being a cyclist kinda sucks politically because your options are always Candidate A: loves bike infrastructure, but refuses to jail bike thieves Candidate B: wants to send bike thieves to the gulag, but hates cyclists anyway my bike was stolen last week, RIP

SEIU 775's $3 Billion dollar, payroll tax funded WA Cares program is once again in the news because of how poorly thought out it is. Out of 113 initial applicants to receive taxpayer funded long term care, just 44 were approved. That is a 61% denial rate for anyone doing the math. This program has been riddled from the start with hiccups, threatened lawsuits by disabled veterans, do overs, half a million opt-outs, and unpopularity so bad...the program start was delayed by Olympia democrats for years to avoid public blowback. Unfortunately, voters had a chance in 2024 to axe it through I-2124, but decided to keep it around...so here we are with the consequences of our own actions.
