it’s unreal to me that over 100k people are playing on steam, and the entire trials population is still under 10k
(even before pantheon today)

@trulyyblu I get it, I loved Destiny. But there’s a reason this is the end. A plan to cost the studio way less in production while keeping players engaged isn’t possible or they would’ve tried it. Everyone thinks Sony and Bungie are incompetent, but I assure you that’s not the case.

Half the community is going to hate me for saying this, but the only way to keep Bungie alive right now is to support Marathon. People keep comparing Marathon numbers to Destiny and frankly, that's ignorant. Marathon was never designed to do Bungie numbers. The conversations about that were very upfront early. It's more aligned with Tarkov than Destiny. Completely different target markets that just so happen to have a wide intersection with Destiny target markets since it uniquely has so many.

@keronage @samikatplays Bungie was below the red line before the Sony acquisition. If it wasn’t acquired right then, the studio was very close to shutting its doors at the very least on Destiny. It was an emergency acquisition

There is so many games that can and WILL replace Marathon cause it’s an extraction shooter. Not a single game can replace Destiny. It’s 3pm on the east coast and it is the final day of free to play for Marathon which is struggling to get over 13k players while Destiny 2 is once again over 100k. I think it’s clear where the customer base is for Bungie. Sony… you still have time to green light Destiny 3. No way Marathon survives at this rate.
