@jamesbenge What would you say is arsenals best 11 to still maintain a strong defensive base but increase the creativity, ability to play between the lines and overall attacking threat / create more open play chances?
English

Arsenal average 1.04 open play xG per 90 this season. When Martinelli and Gyokeres share the pitch, that number drops to 0.29. In a small sample size it’s even worse with Madueke in too.
On Arteta’s weird, unsticky attack & other thoughts.

@ArsenalBallots 3. Review cup final policy - have it based on attendance of games in a competition e.g. silver member who goes to every home game in the carabao cup would have priority over ST who doesn’t go to any games before the final, but lower chance than ST who goes home and away
(2/2)
English

@ArsenalBallots 1. Scrap the ballot and go back to the old system
2. If not, Priority for big games for people that have entered certain number of ballots

@TheShirtUnion Doesn’t look like there is any chance of using navy shorts with it as the away shorts are navy (would rather they swap although I do like the navy shorts on the away)
Anyone talented enough to mock up the home kit with navy shorts?
English

🏴⚪️ England home shirt in action tonight…
For us, has to be paired with navy shorts. This all white look is sub-par 😒

@SamRobertsComms @Champrugby Tobias Elliot was very good at the weekend and deserves to keep playing. I know he is a senior player but don’t think malins has much impact off the bench and just isn’t having a great season. Caluori surely more valuable off the bench or even starting on the other wing to Elliot
English

Because @Champrugby is a proving ground and being used as such. Caluori is good but still needs to learn things about the game. No better place than England’s second tier.

🏉 Why are misfiring Saracens wasting Noah Caluori’s talents at Ampthill? Teenager is still Prem's leading tryscorer, and must feature against Bath in the Champions Cup rather than be exiled to lower reaches again ✍️ @SBarnesRugby #Echobox=1774867454" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thetimes.com/sport/rugby-un…

@Saintsman99 @premrugby @TheRugbyPod In the premier league (football) there is a requirement for at least part of the away fans to be pitch side (unless you are Newcastle or Sunderland). Makes sense to have a similar rule, especially as the whole point of this was to improve the atmosphere for the away team
English

Did anyone really think this away fans sections in rugby would be anything more than just shove a few Saints supporters up in the naughty corner where there’s a few spare seats. Really @premrugby what’s benefit is this for the fans? Hardly an ‘away end’ is it! @TheRugbyPod

@Footy_Headlines Don’t like the burgundy stripes / details at all
More general comment on all the new adidas kits. The thicker stripes are horrible, they’ve gone from clearly the best kit provider and getting better and better to making a massive backwards step

@AFCFixtureNews Possible midweeks available (using the date for the Weds for ease):
- 22nd April (between City and FA Cup SF)
- 13th May (before FA Cup)
- 20th May (after FA Cup)
Plus if we don’t make UCL SF it also opens up:
- 29th April
- 6th May
Where would your guesses be?
English

@Dominique5959 @OldDownbadians I think you stop the glaringly obvious strength of LBBs kick chase as a priority though, outside defenders getting to high and narrow making it too easy. Doesn’t mean you are able to stop every attack but don’t gift easy points, make the opposition work for it
English

@Jcomps123 @OldDownbadians I agree with you, but in that case we adapt and attack in a different way. That’s the whole point of having multiple options: the more you have, the harder it is to defend against.
English

@_ArsenalMuse Agree but would’ve also got martinelli on for trossard before we conceded as well, as they were squeezing us so high up the pitch because we had no threat in behind

🚨JUST IN: “Not Kepa” — Micah Richards claims Mikel Arteta got it wrong against Man City due to another Arsenal player.
Kepa Arrizabalaga’s selection wasn’t the only decision Mikel Arteta got wrong in the Carabao Cup final, with Micah Richards also pointing to a mistake involving Piero Hincapie.
Micah Richards says not taking off Piero Hincapie was a mistake by Mikel Arteta in the Carabao Cup final
On The Rest Is Football podcast, Micah Richards spoke about other changes that Arteta needed to make to the left, this time, focusing on Piero Hincapie.
Once the left-back was shown a yellow card, Richards saw his game completely change.
“I’ve been in that position, when you have a yellow card as a defender, you take away all your attributes,” Richards explained.
“Hincapie, his attributes, he reads the game well, he’s aggressive, but he gets out to people quickly, and for the goal, I think, if he hadn’t been on a yellow card, he would have gone to the ball.”
“That’s where I think Arteta got it wrong in the game, when you’ve got left-backs on the bench, you have to use them.”
What do you make of Micah Richards’ take? Via [@afcnewsroom]
