@BrendanPorath Gonna come close to 6 hour rounds. No chance they finish today, slim chance they finish R2 tomorrow. And that’s if we get no more stoppages at all
@ANGC_burner What people are forgetting is that places like Shinnecock/Oakmont are awesome courses but SEEM cooler primarily because they're ultra private - turn them into public venues with 60k rounds/year and mystique falls off. Torrey as a US Open course (the substance here) is upper tier
@flognoevili@TronCarterNLU If you play the course in peak condition, it's pretty amazing and hard as hell - much better in person than on TV, which doesn't do the contours justice. Biggest downside to me is aesthetics-doesn't feel as isolated as a Shinnecock, Oakmont, Pebble, etc. And practice areas suck.
@werebearut@TronCarterNLU It needs more trees, unfortunately it's gone the opposite direction - bunch of trees at the '08 Open that have since been knocked down by storms. The hospitals bordering the east side of the course all also a crappy look, but never going to escape that.
@JesusShuttlewor@TronCarterNLU I think the biggest thing hurting Torrey Pines is the utterly bland petri dish design. Magnificent setting, and I am sure they go all out as a host. But it's just not an interesting course for major tournament golf.
How does @FIFAcom Americanize Soccer?
Turn it into 4 quarters, add commercials during the breaks masquerading as player safety, and elongate halftime in the championship to accomodate a concert
Mission accomplished
LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil was just asked on CNBC if he could guarantee LIV will play its next four events amid rumors PIF could pull money before end of season.
"What I can guarantee is a heck of a return if you come invest in this business."
@ToddFuhrman It’s so laughable - outside of mainstream games, there’s no liquidity at all if you want to exit your position without getting completely screwed on price . But often a ton of contacts you can buy (from the house, definitely not people) .
Prediction markets using the advertising spin of “betting against other fans” continues to make me laugh
They’re a new and welcome addition to the betting ecosystem but let’s call a spade a spade
@chrisboettcher9 There is a faint whiff of a valid point about the fleeting nature of prime family leisure times that got buried under insecurity dressed up as judgy bravado.
Congrats on ruining it. 👍
I have zero tolerance for dads who show up on vacation, immediately crack and cold one, and then spend hours observing the fun their kids are having from a chair instead of being a part of it.
You can choose numbness or you can choose to make memories. You don't get the time back.
Those of you still yelling about having the Final Four in football stadiums -- and you know you're out there -- can look at this chart and see what we'd be looking at if @MarchMadnessMBB final weekend went back to arenas.
In 1989, I saw Detroit beat LA in the NBA Finals. My ticket cost $25, or $67 in today’s money. I see the cheapest Game 3 ticket for Knicks-Spurs is going for $6,000…89 times the inflation-adjusted price I paid 37 years ago.
America, what happened?

@DominicEla70927@mjshrimper Maybe - but the public market has spoken. It’s only that much because people are willing to pay that much, otherwise the price would drop.
