Djibouti is about the saddest little dictatorship I’ve seen. Its ruler, Guelleh, is terribly corrupt, creaming military base rents off for his family while Djibouti’s children stand ragged on its streets and impossibly busted-up highways (often undriveable even w/ 4x4h).

When you read all of it, the Somaliland version is all positive and has nothing crime, but in Somalia and Djibouti, it's all about dhiiqo. @JimcaleHamari As a Djiboutian, I think this analysis is simplistic. Djibouti's primary focus is regional stability. A strong and peaceful Somalia benefits the entire region, including Djibouti.

As a Djiboutian, recognizing Somaliland is not a solution but an admission of failure. It weakens Somalia's sovereignty and diverts attention from the real causes of the instability.

Somalia is not a country. The US recognized the entity in Mogadishu in 2013, and the rest of the world followed the suit. Now, it's time for the Trump administration to revoke that undeserved recognition and keep Somalia's failed state in Chapter VII.

𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 decades, 𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲 presidents, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 consistent position on 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻; clear evidence of determination, continued stability & democracy in action. Somaliland’s 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 stands as a 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 success, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 by its people💪.

It was an honor to engage key stakeholders and leaders on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. My remarks highlighted Somaliland's distinctive historical journey, our right to self-determination, and the transformative promise of Israel's recent recognition for bilateral ties and regional harmony. I noted that recognizing us strengthens global stability and rewards merit. I concluded with a call to forge win-win partnerships in Red Sea security, trade, technology innovation, and joint efforts against extremism.
