If the client mentions "Is this going to be a short call?", mention "John, I completely understand that. This will be a brief call discussing some of our tools for your purposes. We will set up a follow-up meeting here in the next two days. What works well for you?". ACT WITH AUTHORITY. Sound like a professional. Don't sound like a broke loser. The more you sound like a professional, the better people will respond to you. Now go kill it.

Do me a favor… Stop saying stupid shit on sales calls. You get on a call and immediately: "Sorry to bother you..." You just told them you're a bother. "I know you're probably busy..." You just gave them permission to blow you off. "Does that make sense?" You just made them question if you even know what you're talking about. "Just circling back..." You just admitted you have nothing new to say. Every single word you say either raises or lowers your status. You think you're being polite. You're not. You're sabotaging yourself.
