A statement has been released by David Storch, preferred bidder at Sheffield Wednesday #SWFC Key points: They have been informed that a 15-point penalty is set to be imposed at the start of next season, despite submissions to the EFL making a case against it. Dejphon Chansiri has not agreed to write down or restructure the debt he is owed and repeated attempts to engage him, "have gone unanswered." "The full scale of the serious infrastructure challenges (at Sheff Wed) has become apparent." Club described as "in distress" in current form -- but Storch insists, "it remains our absolute intention to complete this transaction by 1 May." Storch says they have committed to immediately address the serious infrastructure issues, "on the basis that the EFL agree to a reasonable approach to the intended 15 point penalty to be applied next season." Calls on fans to make their voices heard.

@Livvy_McG Yep. Person tasked with cleaning it up punished whilst the bloke who did the damage gets £15 million. Totally perverse and unjust.

@AlexJPMiller It’s like the @EFL are actively trying to deter investors who can save a priceless community asset. We’ve had the season from hell and now they want to inflict it on us again because we won’t reward Chansiri with £15m for his destruction. Not fit for purpose.

@MG117_ @tomosuto_ @robstaton @adam3oxley Has this season not been enough of a deterrent? Why should a new owner spend £15 million to reward a man for destroying the club? That is money that is dearly needed for key infrastructure. Its a bad rule clearly there to protect the interests of bad owners.

@tomosuto_ @robstaton @adam3oxley It’s shite sure but has to be some deterrent to administration. New owners could pay the 25p on the £ or whatever if they want but they’re choosing not to so they have more money to spend on the rebuild. That’s the trade off

@robstaton That man has done untold damage to our club and he still has the brass neck to expect to be paid for it. I’d sooner take the -15 than see Chansiri get so much as a penny. The single worst thing to happen to SWFC.

@storchyowl So basically Chansiri has run our club into the ground and now the future owners (who have to pay for the repairs he put off) and fans are being penalized for not paying him £15 million for the privilege. It’s totally unjust #FairDealForWednesday

@_TedCooper @RorySmith Top PL clubs already have a massive financial advantage over other European sides. They have huge squads and can cherry pick the best youth talent. We’ve scrapped extra time and cup replays to help them. Why do the rest of us need to bend over for the already powerful?

You probably know that PSG had the weekend off before coming to Liverpool after Ligue 1 postponed their game with Lens. If it feels like a minor squabble, it shouldn't: scheduling leagues to make life easier for the biggest teams is a real problem. observer.co.uk/news/sport/art…

Two unwanted records for Sheffield Wednesday today. 36 games without a win - equalling Derby's English league record from 2007 to 2008. 37 games without a win in all competitions - outright English football record by overtaking Derby. #swfc

Coventry boss Frank Lampard on #SWFC: “What has really impressed me watching them is how they’re going, how the manager is keeping his energy, how the team are running and fighting for him regardless of results. Don’t expect them to come and roll over or sit in a low block." 🦉⚽️

@spikedonline Thank god the embarrassing Miriam was totally rejected by the voters in my home constituency. Why she continues to have such a big voice on the right is totally baffling.

Win or lose in these elections, Viktor Orbán made Hungary matter. No other leader of such a small country has had so much influence on European and US politics. No wonder he is so hated by the globalist liberal elites, says Miriam Cates buff.ly/YuGViY6

@VinnieSull1van @BygoneBritain @Lost___London I think they'd be broken, confused, furious & in a state of utter disbelief & shock, asking themselves why they fought & suffered two world wars just to see us suffer a few decades later in a very different war.

@JoshCarson1867 That's where you're wrong. I know several British youths with one Hungarian parent who are now not only obtaining dual nationality and moving here, they're bringing their Mum or Dad and the non-Hungarian parent as well. Be better informed. Mate.

For a country of ten million people that spent most of the 20th century occupied and impoverished, Hungary today is thriving. This, in the eyes of his supporters, is down to the 16-year rule of Viktor Orban. Hungary’s Prime Minister has, to use his phrasing, aimed to create an ‘illiberal democracy’. He has reformed the country’s judiciary, given tax breaks to mothers to increase the birth rate and zealously resisted the EU’s refugee policies. The last is illustrated by the 140-mile fence along the Serbian border constructed during the 2015 migration crisis. Proud border guards tell you that 1.1 million migrants have been kept out in a decade. ✍️ William Atkinson Article | spectator.com/article/is-tim…

@JoshCarson1867 @spectator Perhaps, but as we huddle here by candlelight eating relief rations sent by Oxfam, I'll try to remember how many stories I've heard about Hungarian police ignoring Pakistani rape gangs. Oh right - zero.

@1m4gy4r2 @spectator Yes what we are really crying out for to fix our stagnating economy is a leader who has presided over being outperformed by Romania 🙄

@spectator Exactly right. When I've been in London the past few years, I've received one or two disapproving glances at table, as I expressed approval of Orbán - far more often, British friends expressed jealousy and the wish for such resolute leadership in Westminster.

@WTMAtkinson @spectator By what economic metrics is Hungary “thriving”? Their purchasing power has been overtaken by Romania and their economy has barely grown in 2 years. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for a govt seeking reelection.

@lyndonbajohnson Not surprised to learn Lady Bird got on well with Barbara Bush. Apart from the Texas connection, I’ve heard many interviews where they have all said BB was incredibly warm and quite the opposite to her predecessor Nancy.
