My initial thought is POTUS wants to rain down death and destruction, bomb Iran off of the map. I’m open to alternate interpretations.

We damaged their nuclear program, we destroyed some sites - if you actually read what you linked from people who dont speak the way Trump speaks (yes he exaggerates, it has been a decade of him in politics and 5 decades of him in public life, you should know this by now), it’s clear the assessment is much more tepid, even from those who want to talk a bit tougher
So they focused on rebuilding that while beefing up their ballistic missile and conventional military capabilities, to buy time and deterrence capabilities to continue to build their nuclear program.
They admit that themselves, told it straight to our face. They are the bloody energizer bunny marching to the bomb, indefatigable, believing it is their God-given right, and if we didnt act theyd have built their conventional capabilities to the point where it would be much more costly to go after them to stop them from getting a bomb, and then gotten the bomb - or caused way more damage if we tried to stop them later
So now we’re pushing them back to the Stone Age in terms of industrial output capacity, so they can’t rebuild their conventional arms capabilities for a decade, much less their nuclear program
