@TessW62 @ArchRose90 Maybe, maybe not…it’s a good idea that we could have benefited from over last few years - Covid, Brexit etc - there is no detailed proposal yet (as far as I know) so maybe we wait for that? Again, just odd to be so dismissive upfront

Labour is drawing up plans to bypass Whitehall by using citizens' assemblies to decide contentious issues, such as Lords reform and housebuilding. A truly dreadful idea & an abandonment of responsibility by those elected to make informed decisions. politics.co.uk/news/2024/02/1…

@nongnangning1 @ArchRose90 If the proposal does not demonstrate a plan that is fair and representative, absolutely fine to criticise…IF, as per the logic of citizen assemblies, it’s a fair mix of society then it will help democratise decisions and support parliament…odd to be dismissove up front

@Kay11Rob @ArchRose90 It won't be though. We all see the types of people who want these roles,we see it on a smaller scale in neighborhood groups.

So, slashing inheritance tax will cost the Treasury around 3.5 billion pounds and please about 12 people across the country. Sounds like prime Rishi Sunak strategic thinking there.

@VirginAtlantic Hi - I have a booking, 2 adults and 2 children, trying to book seats, only seats available are all spread out around plane? How can I have confirmation that all 4 of us will be together in one row of 4

Some personal news. I’ve had awful sciatica lately. It’s caused by a spine tumour. I need surgery so I’ll be off for a bit. I’ll record some shows to cover the gap (subscribe wherever you get your podcasts). I’ll be fine. In the words of Steve Cooper, I’ll trust the process.

@NicholasTyrone Embarrassing…he’s my local MP and I’m quite sure @AndrewBowie_MP doesn’t even believe what’s he’s saying here, it’s a terrible look for him and the party…

This clip is a perfect summation of where the Tories are right now. Peddling dangerous hard-right conspiracy theories while also trying to give themselves plausible deniability for peddling dangerous hard-right conspiracy theories:

@MarkSlater74 @LabourLydia @ross_baglin @RoryStewartUK @Keir_Starmer Of course safe routes will help, it’s a step in right direction…but it’s not going to stop the boats, it’ll probably just reduce them a bit. Interesting to see detail of policy to understand what labour will do with those people who still still travel by boat

@Keir_Starmer new ideas on asylum seem brave and principled. He is taking a political risk but it will mean a workable asylum policy and far fewer dangerous boat crossings. It is logical, moral, good for Britain - and far better than the current government policy. Well done Keir
Nick Timothy MP@NJ_Timothy

Starmer’s solution to the Channel crossings? To agree quotas of migrants already in safe EU countries. We didn’t accept asylum quotas even when we were in the EU. This is a surrender - and a recipe for yet more immigration.

🧵 1/1 I’ve spent my entire career trying to promote positivity. At my shows, off the stage, wherever I am. I don’t like division or hate. That’s why I responded to the previous tweet. Being crass, I replied bc I was offended by @JasonIsbell insinuation that “if you don’t write your own songs, you’re less than or not a real artist..”

What has happened is a tragedy, and I feel immense pity for the families. It’s also a tragedy born of hubris - and it’s not dehumanising to say that the attitude of OceanGate and their ‘move fast and break things’ disdain for safety regulations got these people killed.
richard bacon@richardpbacon

No stop it. It’s totally legitimate to say it’s mad we don’t put this empathy onto migrant boats. Totally legitimate. But don’t dehumanise these people. There’s a kid on there who’s a student in Glasgow. Today his mum lost him and her husband, after awful hours of false hope.

@PeterHotez This is a terrible look for you…you can’t actively criticise misinformation and then refuse to go on the biggest platform available and dispel it? If you ignore ‘misinformation’ then fine, do what you like, but you’re talking about it constantly but only in your echo chamber

@mattletiss7 Isn’t the story just two people with an interest in reporting vaccine side effects saying it ‘could be down to the vaccine’? Why would the MSM report this? Just like Jamie Foxx story, people with an interest in something saying it might have happened isn’t really news

@Rob_Dono @RadioFreeTom This DR actively tweeted criticising the podcast and now acts like any debate is below him; people have access to so much information online, good & bad, this would be a great opportunity to dispel ‘misinformation’..the ‘we’re above this kind of thing’ attitude is such a bad look
