We’ve made strides in MA on #EnvironmentalJustice but there is still a long road ahead. A $1mil increase in @MassEEA’s EJ budget will improve translation services & mapping technology to better recognize the impacts of #EnergyInfrastructure on communities. #GreenBudget

Planning & implementing resiliency solutions for MA is hard work, but it's crucial to prevent the worst impacts of #ClimateChange. Increasing @MassEEA’s Climate Adaptation & Preparedness budget by $2.8mil would help the agency acquire the necessary staff & resources. #GreenBudget

With an additional $750K, the Division of Ecological Restoration could hire additional project managers to repair or remove dams & culverts, improving #PublicSafety & #EnvironmentalHealth. #GreenBudget

With $5mil in increased funding @MassDEP could increase staffing, improve compliance with new #climate laws, and speed up permitting. #GreenBudget

Today I testified before the Committees on Public Safety/Public Service on two bills I filed to support firefighters and enhance public safety in MA and to help reduce health care costs for State employees. Proud to work with @BostonFire and @MOSES_MASS on these important issues.

Removing dams, upgrading culverts, and restoring cranberry bogs and salt marshes...MA's Division of Ecological Restoration does it all! Let's make sure they have sufficient funding this budget cycle so they can continue to protect our ecosystems and communities. @MassEcoRestore

DEP is responsible for public health and safety including ensuring clean air & water, enforcement of environmental law, and cleanup/preservation of resources. A 2020 Boston Globe investigation found a 75% decrease in fine collections due to staffing cuts. #greenbudget

The Dept. of Conservation & Recreation is responsible for stewardship, management, & safety of our parks, beaches, forests, campgrounds, & more. In the last year, DCR parks saw an avg 99% increase in use across the state, with a 300% increase in some counties. #GreenBudget

MA's environmental agencies provide jobs, safety, revenue, & recreation. They can't do this without adequate resources. For over 20 yrs, we’ve advocated for restoring their funding to 1% of the state budget. Stay tuned this month to learn more about our #GreenBudget priorities.
