Not to continue to dump on ep IX but stuff like this makes me so sad. It had potential to truly be a great film but just proceeded to take any actual meaningful risks or willingness to innovate ๐

Forever thinking about how there was a scene filmed for The Rise Of Skywalker where Kylo Ren uses The Force on Chewbaccaโs mind, only for it to completely backfire when Chewieโs memories remind him how much Han actually meant to Ben growing up. It ultimately was cut from the final film for being a little too dark, but itโs such a great character moment that Iโm glad still exists within Episode IXโs expanded novelization. Would love to see the deleted scenes from this film one of these days!

And THEN this "Superman" goes and fights a human dressed in a metal suit and proceeds to beat the shit out of him without saying more than 10 words that might help explain the situation, because every character has exactly one character trait that they follow through to the end.
I just love how this movie brings up interesting talking points just to completely negate or trivialize them two scenes later. A 12-year-old's idea of "conflict."

The first DVD players went on sale โข29 years agoโข today. This changed my movie consumption life FOREVER. I paid nearly $1000 Canadian for my first player. My first DVD was ROB ROY.

SINNERS on a second watch is transcendent. Thereโs not a false note in this, and everything lands harder, especially the mid-credits scene. This film is a miracle, even more miraculous the Academy recognized this as fully as it did. A generational film.
