@MykhailoRohoza Yeah no it was different. She - like Scholz was initially against supporting Ukraine with much (due to thinking that Russia would win within a few weeks and its a lost cause). The Person in the cabinet who was decisive for Germans support for Ukraine was Robert Habeck not her

In 2022, Germany’s new foreign minister broke with decades of diplomatic tradition by authorizing arms deliveries into an active conflict zone. Most observers had expected Berlin to maintain its cautious stance. For generations, German foreign policy had prioritized economic ties and dialogue with Russia over military involvement. The legacy of the Cold War and the country’s dependence on Russian gas reinforced a doctrine of restraint. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, this approach faced its greatest test since reunification. Annalena Baerbock, who led the Green Party in the coalition government at the age of 42, secured cabinet approval for arms deliveries to Kyiv despite fierce internal resistance and pressure from coalition partners. She framed the decision not as militarism, but as a moral necessity. Germany supplied anti-tank weapons, air defense systems, and ammunition that proved critical for defending Ukraine’s major cities. Her stance reshaped Europe’s security debate and forced Berlin to reconsider the limits of appeasement. Three years later, Germany remains one of Ukraine’s largest military supporters. The woman who broke a historic taboo now defines her country’s relationship with its eastern frontier, guided by commitment rather than compromise.

@bartosz78 @Frederik__e @janiszyn_r 1) By that logic France and Italy also would be anti-polish. Also PiS seems not to care about Orban being totally controlled by Moscow. 2) You have to understand that we do not think/talk/care much about Poland. Our decisions (also the wrong one) has nothing to do with you.

Polish PiS party seems to live in an alternative universe. They are obsessed with a weird idea of “German neo-imperialism” instead of focusing on the real risk from Russia. They naively assume that the US would suddenly stop following its own interests and defend Poland if needed
Matthew Mežinskis@1basemoney

@MichaelAArouet Curious, as an aside (links?), how Law and Justice is reacting to all this and if you think they are weakening or strengthening Poland’s position in Europe…

@MichaelFKane @EduardHabsburg But could they not also argue that everything was fake *so far* and now this is the real deal because tech has advanced ? Sounds like an easy way out of the conspiracy without being inconsistent

@EduardHabsburg I would GUESS they think it's part of the op. At this point that op would so many hundreds of thousands to millions of people globally that have some connection to the space industry that it doesn't really matter how unlikely such a conspiracy is. They're commited to it.

I'd like to hear from moon truthers: how do you see this whole Artemis II thing? Is this a real flight around the moon? Or some staged psy op? Or is it just fake when they land? Not a cynical question at all, just like to understand

@NeolibCicero @20committee Sure, lets put the future of our continent in the hands of some folks in Pennsylvania or Michigan who never left their states in their life. We cannot trust America. Besides: I see a lot of „No Kings“- or Anti-ICE Protests.. I have yet to see one for the transatlantic Alliance

@20committee Europe can just wait out Trump. Russia would be suicidal to attack another EU state in the next 2.5 years while its still bogged down in Eastern Ukraine.

Absolutely. However, since Russia is in its 5th year of trying to break out the Donbas, a million casualties later, I'm not terribly worried about Putin marching on Warsaw. Not to mention that Poland is clearly moving towards getting The Bomb (which is wise and overdue).
Arvid Hallén 🌻 🦆 🍁 🌪️⚡🛢️@hallen_a

@20committee President Trump can still totally undermine NATO by asserting that an article 5 call will be answered in limited ways, like providing intelligence or maybe munitions – at a price. NATO would have to reorient itself around London-Paris-Berlin-Warsaw. A lot easier said than done.

Honestly, much of NATO wouldn't go to war with Russia over, say, the Baltics (I hate to say this, but it's the truth) -- it's a bigger problem than Trump.
Timothy VanKerckhove@Kolominas

@20committee He can’t formally leave, but he can potentially announce he as president will no longer adhere to it - as in refuse to act on a future art5 situation?

@20committee 5th Article allows to send "Thoughts and Prayers", so wonder how many NATO ally has blindly believed that USA will help? ATM it looks more likely no help if rogue state will attack. Against tribal armies far away it was easy to be one team.

@20committee Why do you think we stationed the 45th Armored Brigade in Lithuania? Because of the nice beaches or the "great" food? Just because you Americans forgot what Loyalty means, doesnt mean we Europeans will abandon each other.

@shahar_aviram @JakubBlahousek @passcoderonald 1. These are US-Bases on Greenland. Not Danish. For example the US-Bases in Germany are being used for this war - we are not interfering there. 2. The Danes are one of americas closes allies here... they literally helped you spy on us Germans. Apples to Oranges comparison

@MaxMastermann3 @JakubBlahousek @passcoderonald 1. Im an israeli, costarican with family in the US. I know plenty of europeans. 2. Follow the logic: -Denemark says no need to take over Greenland. B/c as part of NATO the US can use those bases whenever. -Spain, France, Italy as part of NATO refuse use of bases & airspace.

@PittJohn74ni @JakubBlahousek @passcoderonald You literally started the war without consulting / convincing/ asking us first (like you did in the case of Iraq). You can't expect to first be "ah fck the europeans lets do it alone" and then (without providing a clear goal) expect us to join in later.

@JakubBlahousek @passcoderonald Yeah, that’s fair. But what is your contingent plan if the US pulled out of NATO? Or are you gonna ignorantly act like that won’t affect anything? I agree we’re playing with fire. But so are all the European countries. 😬

@passcoderonald As a European: there is a huge difference between e.g. the spanish and the danish. It would be like comparing New Yorkers to people from Texas. Denmark was one of your closest ally here - they literally help you spy on our german goverment.

@MelonTeee Gardening becomes much more enjoyable when you stop fighting against nature and instead see every instance of insects eating your plants as A) a triumph in conservation of your local wildlife and B) an endorsement of your plant choice from your tiny neighbours. 🐞
