At 9pm this evening, my oldest friend passed away from cancer. We met at uni and were good friends for over 35 years. She was a kind and loving person and I will miss her. It's extra tough for me as I'm also dealing with the death of my bro 2 weeks ago. RIP Julie.

Jan 4: close schools b/c of threatened health system capacity, but school has always been safe. Jan 17: health system capacity much worse and very little has been done to make schools safer...so let's reopen school. I want kids in school, but the logic is difficult to follow.

@ms_simsimma I'm so sorry this is happening you you. You're a phenomenal teacher who goes above and beyond for your students. You're constantly reinventing the wheel to ensure your students are learning about relevant, real, and ongoing world and systemic issues.

Next year’s PDSB timetable means that with no daily prep every other week, teachers will be given no paid time to phone parents, mark student work, prepare lessons, review IEPs, collaborate with colleagues, differentiate their instruction and more. This will hurt student learning

Just curious: Teachers, please RT this if you teach your students about things and topics that are NOT in the curriculum or the textbook you use because you know it’s very important that they learn it.

While I should be relishing my mat leave, which begins now, I'm still smiling over the feedback/comments my students gave me, having only known them for four weeks. 🥲 I hope I get to meet them in person when they're in grade 12!
