The no-brainer move for Akron is to elevate associate head coach Dustin Ford.
Ford, 47, has been with John Groce since he took over the program in 2017.
The Zips have gone to the NCAA Tournament in four of the past five seasons.
Ford, who played at Ohio, was also with Groce at Ohio and Illinois.

Charleston has hired Akron head coach John Groce, source told @thefieldof68. Groce, 54, has taken the Zips to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and gone dancing four of the last five seasons. Groce will replace Chris Mack, who left Charleston after two seasons to take the South Florida job. Groce is 377-225 in his career. He was also the head coach at Ohio (2008-12) and Illinois (2012-17).

I don’t think UConn is as good as the other 3 but you can’t ignore the Huskies in the tourney. They are everything Sweet 16 Tommy thinks he is.
