This animalistic behaviour is only a modern phenomenon. So sick of seeing scenes like this in Britain.

So producing your own oil and gas does nothing for energy security. I see. If that’s true of Britain it must be true of other fossil fuel producers too. But of course it isn’t.
JB@DizzyJB

@afneil Benefits are tax revenue and jobs only. This will do nothing to improve energy security or bring bills down, when we remain dependent on the global market. Only investment in renewables will alleviate that dependency long term.

I do not want Britain to further become a third world slum packed full of imported young foreign men who can’t speak English, refuse to work, disrespect women and generally hate everything about us. I don’t care if they arrived on a dingy via Dover, or with a visa at Gatwick. A Restore Britain Government will remove them. We’ve all seen the acceleration over the last few years. We can feel our towns changing, our communities changing, our country changing. I don’t like it, and I know tens of millions of Brits are with me. Now is the time for all of us to find the courage to stand up and do something about it. Because I am entirely fed up of politicians outlining the problem without showing the balls to do something about it. Restore Britain has those balls. If you agree with what I’m saying. Then join us. Help us. Support us. There is finally a serious political party with a real chance of winning the next election that is on your side. Restore Britain. It’s our country. It’s our responsibility. We can do this.

My local high street has 6 Turkish Barbers.. 6 !!! and outside each one there’s always at least 3 men loitering throughout the day smoking! We all know you can get more than a haircut and shave in these establishments. Strange how trading standards never seem to intervene and even though we all know they are dealing drugs and weapons, the police do nothing! Organised crime in broad daylight! Now you’re just making things up. The EU does not negotiate gas prices as a block and has no influence on, say, the price of imported LNG. Nor does Norway, the biggest exporter of gas to EU countries, offer an EU block discount.
PAD@68PAD

@DingbatBell @afneil Brexit The EU negotiate as a block we are on our own

@afneil Nationalisation was never the problem Andrew. The problem was failure of successive governments to invest in nationalised industries followed by the Thatcher ideology of capitalism. Oh and road haulage nationalisation lasted one term of government. 4 years from 47 to 51.

Well, nationalisation in the past has worked brilliantly for UK railways, steel, shipbuilding, coal, electricity, road haulage, telecoms, airlines etc etc. They were all global leaders at the cutting edge of technology and development. The world beat a path to our door to learn how to do it. 🤣
Liam Durrant@SpacemanLMD

@afneil So lets nationalise it so we actually benefit from it and not the fossil fuel companies.

The failure of governments — including Labour governments — to invest in nationalised industries — because of other competing claims on the public purse (plus luddite unions) — is THE classic failure of nationalisation. It’s endemic to the system, not a bug.

When I married in 1981 we both worked & most of our salary went on paying the mortgage as the interest rate was 15% at the time. Everything we owned was 2nd hand & we never went out for meals as we couldn’t afford to. We rented our TV Went to the launderette every weekend as had no washing machine. Only had new clothes at Xmas & birthdays as presents. We went without until we could save enough to pay for something. It’s always been hard whether you are young or old. So those out there that think we had it easy we didn’t. Our governments are to blame, not the old.

Why do people put out lies about loss of GDP and trade from Brexit based on out of date wrong forecasts? The official numbers for trade and GDP over the last ten years show no Brexit losses, with the UK outperforming Germany for GDP.

Your mind is clearly blown because you have no idea what you’re talking about. Let’s just take gas. All of it comes by pipeline into the UK and is used in the UK. Oil is a bit more complicated but I’ll let you grapple with the facts about gas before moving on to that. Let me know if you have any questions about gas. Happy to help.
Zoe Gardner@ZoeJardiniere

It is blowing my mind how many people don’t seem able to grasp that oil & gas in the North Sea is not “ours” but was sold off to private companies who will trade it on the international market like any other fuel. We don’t get any kind of privileged access to this fuel.

None of the facts above will make a dent in the Lowe supporters. They are the Right Woke. They believe in feelings, not facts. Lowe just needs to utter a phrase, a word, a sentence and they believe every single word without question. The moment they stand, the truth will out. They will be annihilated away from X. It’s why Lowe registered Restore so late to be too late to stand on 7th May. To keep his stud value on play. We are witnessing the biggest example of a baby chucking their toys out of their pram ever.

@afneil Did you not say Oil & Gas prices would be lower this year? I seem to remember an article you wrote just after Christmas- with the caveat only Starmer could "F*ck it up" 🤔

Actually France doesn’t get much oil or gas from the Gulf. And I wish those who affect to be so knowledgeable about the Strait of Hormuz would learn how to spell Strait. (And it’s singular). You’re welcome.
AhHegs@hegsadh

@afneil The US has no reason to militarily intervene in eastern Ukraine. France has every reason to keep the Straights open. Big difference.

I'm going to set out the conversation I had with the Metropolitan Police Press Office yesterday. People can judge whether their response represents an attempt to facilitate a legitimate journalistic query, or something else: Me: "Hi, I'm writing about the above issue for tomorrow's paper [Mandelson]. I would like to know: If the Met has any record of the reported theft of former Downing Street Chief of Staff Morgan McSweeney's mobile phone, as widely reported in the media. If any efforts are being made to recover the phone given its significance to the investigation. If any efforts have been made to obtain centrally held Government records of communications from the phone" Many thanks
