@BBCNews Reduce high standing charges, decouple gas from electricity prices are the answer. Any other suggestions is simply telling us to use less, meaning cold homes. Why should we work all week to have a cold home.

I can't do this anymore. I can't keep paying hundreds of pounds every month on jusy energy. I can't keep paying hundreds of pounds just to keep the lights on for a small house for two adults and two little children under 6. This is getting absolutely ridiculous, especially from a party that had promised to freeze energy prices before being elected!

UK households to face steepest summer rise in energy charges in four years as government’s energy price cap for Great Britain rises 13%. The average gas and electricity bill will increase to the equivalent of £1,862 a year from July until the end of September, largely (but not entirely) to take account of the rise in global energy market prices caused by the war on Iran. The cost of living is now back at the top of the political agenda.

@TrisOsborneMP Thank you for replying to people, we all have genuine concerns over this. Do you have any ETA on when electric can be decoupled from volatile oil + gas prices. I seen 2030 floating about as a potential date. Can this be reduced, feels like we need it now.

Energy bills are rising again. Labour will blame Iran, but you’re paying more because of Ed Miliband’s net zero taxes and refusal to drill our own oil and gas. Our Cheap Power Plan would cut bills by 20% by scrapping the green taxes, scrapping VAT and drilling in the North Sea.

@dresserman Got one of them in my shed from about four years ago, cost me a quid. Great investment, what are they at min £4 to £5, another few years and I will be able to sell and retire.

~10 years ago, back in 2014, Sony announced Project Morpheus (later Playstation VR). There was a spirit of intense competition, but also collaboration - Oculus and Sony always swapped demos. Sony actually paid for all the indie game dev booths at the Tokyo Game Show for many years, even ones that had nothing to do with Playstation. Even the ones who were only on competing platforms like Oculus! That is just the kind of guy @yosp was.

Compare the market are suggesting @SoEnergyUK while more expensive than my present provider @OctopusEnergy will be my best option once my 12 month Octopus fixed contract ends. Anyone used SoEnergy, are they ok, or avoid?? Also standing charges are total con.

@AfcWill10 @iamhamesh So like all of us you’re paying a percentage of your salary into a government pension pot you personally don’t expect to benefit from. I have also have private pensions, but still would like to see a return on what I have been forced into paying.

@_Unknown_D_ OK controversial idea but we need to stop thinking of tax as a moral requirement. Governments simply waste our money. All employees should pay the same rate irrelevant of salary, so it’s equal/fair. Set a 20% maximum tax on all employees.
