@MarkWarner NATO put in an end to a thousand years of bloody warfare. The Hundred Years War. The Napoleonic Wars. WWI. WWII. The endless bloodshed of European wars ended in 1949, when the North Atlantic Treaty was signed. Only a fool would look to end such a successful alliance.
