@MartinG1492 Martin do me a favour. Put the words "unionism" "nationalism" into your elected Party colleague's x accounts and let me know your analysis of the results

@RobbieButlerMLA We don't criticise Unionism as a political construct as we also don't criticise Nationalism on that basis Robbie. To aspire to the United Kingdom or a United Ireland as a basis of your politics is fine. We criticise both for the tribal identity basis of politics here. 🧵

For those who say that Alliance never criticise SF, listen to this episode of the podcast. Actually, it answers most of the criticisms of Alliance that I see on this platform. Will any of our critics have the guts to listen to it? 🤔

Did Sinn Féin mishandle COVID early on? @naomi_long reflects on how the Northern Ireland Assembly and Sinn Féin reacted to the early stages of the pandemic, and how that soured relationships within the Executive.

Grateful for the invitation to attend today’s Westminster Hall debate on the Government’s response to the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee report on the legacy of the Troubles. This was an important opportunity for MPs to raise deeply sensitive and often overlooked issues directly with the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland particularly as the legislation has yet to reach Committee Stage. Key concerns remain: • The need to properly address sexual abuse during the Troubles, as highlighted through the Swann amendment and the UUP Assembly motion • Serious questions around the so-called “six protections for veterans”, which in reality will extend protections far beyond those who served • The clear priority for any new legislation must be truth and fairness for victims and survivors Powerful contributions across the chamber, especially from Robin Swann MP, speaking on the 38th anniversary of the brutal murder of Cpl Woods & Cpl Howes in 1988. Encouraging too to hear Paul Kohler MP’s awareness of these complex issues, alongside contributions from Katrina Murray MP and Fleur Anderson MP, who recognised the vital work of victims’ group SEFF. The voices of victims and survivors must remain at the heart of this process.

I might have been smiling when I went in to speak with the amazing Maghaberry ladies but I was laughing out loud by the time I left. Irish stew, apple tart and all dressed with a bit of green to celebrate St Patrick's day (even if it was a day late lol) Thanks Tracey Crothers and the team for the welcome, hospitality and the craic ☘️☘️☘️

A warm St Patrick’s Day welcome at Ballymacash Community Centre, my thanks to the team ☘️ Since entering public life, I’ve been clear about the kind of politics we need: Spes, non timor - hope, not fear - Dóchas, ní eagla. Not just words, but a choice to lead with hope over division, and confidence over fear. In many ways, it’s a modern expression of St Patrick’s creed ☘️ #StPatricksDay #HopeNotFear

🚨🗣NEW: Father and sister of Lisa Dorrian - ‘We are closer now than we've ever been’ 🎤🎥Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaking to Lisa Dorrian’s sister, Joanne, and her father John. They were at Stormont today as Justice Minister @naomi_long brought forward the Sentencing Bill. The Bill will introduce “Charlotte’s Law”, which aims to reduce the trauma experienced by families of murder victims in so-called “no body” cases. It would create a statutory aggravator for failing to disclose the location of a victim’s remains, as well as new sentence reductions for post-sentence disclosures. Lisa, aged 25, went missing from a caravan park in Co Down in February 2005. Her body has never been found. A string of recent arrests has given the family renewed hope, and Joanne welcomed the opportunity to be at Stormont today to speak about the Bill. @letsfindlisa

🚫WATCH: Home heating oil support simply 'not enough. The Prime Minister has fallen short. It’s fallen on deaf ears.' 🎥Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaking to @uuponline MLA @RobbieButlerMLA. He was reacting to confirmation that Northern Ireland will receive £17m from the Government’s £53m package to support households struggling with the cost of heating oil. That works out at around £35 per household. Mr Butler says the money is not enough for the most vulnerable, and that calls to the Prime Minister have not been listened to. He added his party will be contacting the Government following the announcement.

💥⚠️UPDATE: Finance Minister slams UK government heating oil support as households set to receive “around £35.” 🎥🛢Finance Minister @JohnODowdSF was speaking after it was announced that Northern Ireland will receive £17m from the Government’s £53m package to support households struggling with cost of oil. ⁉️Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 asked when the support will come and what a proper support package would look like. He said he will be writing to Communities Minister Gordon Lyons to request proposals as quickly as possible. In terms of what proper support would look like, the Finance Minister said it should resemble the support provided when Russia invaded Ukraine.

Mother’s Day is a chance to pause and think about the women who shape our lives. Thinking today of my own Mum and Grannies, grateful for my wonderful wife, and proud that my daughter celebrates her very first Mother’s Day. Also recognising foster and adoptive mums who open their homes and hearts to children who need it most. Thank you to every mum and granny the world is better because of you. Happy Mother’s Day.

@RobbieButlerMLA @SRAikenUUP Thanks Robbie. It’s nearly been 6 years suffering for my wife @rebslogan Most of the intervening years have been spent advocating for treatment pathways alongside @hope4mefibroni as well as dealing with the crippling effects of illness. March 15 is Long Covid Awareness Day. But awareness without action is futile. Too many people across Northern Ireland are living with Long Covid, often facing the same struggles as those with ME when it comes to recognition and getting help. Delighted to meet Rosie at Stormont and hear first-hand about the challenges people are young people. Let’s make this the year Long Covid gets the attention it so sorely needs. 📷 Pic credit: Rosie #LongCovidAwarenessDay

Thank you to The Wallace High School, Lisburn for the invitation to speak with the Year 13 students today. I really enjoyed being part of a panel alongside Emma Little-Pengelly MLA and David Honeyford MLA. The questions were thoughtful, the discussion was robust but always respectful exactly how politics should be. It’s encouraging to see so many young people interested in the future of our society and willing to challenge those in public life. 👏📚 Thanks again for the warm welcome!
