*Super* sounds like an assumption that humanities degrees are easier than STEM ones- would encourage telling the avg med student with a science background they have to write a 3000 word literature review and observing the reaction thetimes.com/uk/education/a…

A PA on @LBC claiming her goal was to practice medicine & she didn’t believe she needed to be a doctor to do that.
Why not?
You have to be a lawyer to practice law
You have to be a pilot to fly a plane
You have to be a dentist to practice dentistry
If your sole goal is to practice medicine, name one reason you wouldn’t apply for medical school & train to be a doctor?
The competitive entry, multiple tough exams, years of study & training?
The truth is - you either did not meet the cut for medical school or you wanted a short cut at the expense of patient safety.

As ME I’ve signed, I think, at least 50 ‘new’ MCCDs…. Each time I read the sentence:
‘Qualifications (as registered by the GMC)’
from the end - and start writing my GMC number. Every. Single. Time… these two are just from this morning 😵💫

Until this year, I don't think I really "got" the impact of divorce. I've had hard times but recovering from my first (hopefully only) separation of that kind destroyed me. It's 18 months later and I still haven't quite adjusted to life without her. huffpost.com/entry/divorce-…

We are in the midst of a growing epidemic of over testing. Previously this was something we worried about within our medical practice but with the public being convinced to request more & more often very complex and difficult to interpret tests, healthcare will change completely

It should actually be “KNOW MORE, WORRY MORE” to capture all the stress from unnecessary investigations of incidental findings, false negatives and false positives

This is Unsinkable Sam, aka Oscar, a cat that served with the Kriegsmarine (navy of Nazi Germany) and the Royal Navy (navy of the UK) during World War 2.
He was reported to have belonged to a sailor onboard the German battleship Bismarck.
On May 18, 1941, Bismarck was on its first mission when it was sunk by the Allies. Out of the 2,100 crew members on board, only 115 men and one cat survived.
The HMS Cossack scooped up the cat and gave him the name Oscar. For the next few months, Oscar lived on the ship until it was hit by torpedoes from a German U-boat, which killed 159 crew members but not Oscar, who was brought to the shores of Gibraltar by the remaining survivors.
Oscar was soon transferred to the HMS Ark Royal where he was given the name, "Unsinkable Sam". Ironically, the Ark Royal was heavily involved in the sinking of the Bismark. After a series of near misses, the ship had garnered a reputation for being a "lucky ship", however its luck would soon run out.
On November 14, 1941, the Ark Royal was torpedoed by a U-boat, causing it to roll over and sink. Sam was found clinging to a piece of wood and was described as "angry, but quite unharmed".
The sinking of the Ark Royal ended Sam's career at sea and he lived out his remaining years in Belfast with a seaman until 1955.
