1. it was never marketed as a console replacement it was marketed as a PC. You guys just gaslit yourselves into believing that.
2. You're currently gaslighting yourself again because the steam machine doesn't struggle to run games. We literally have tons of channels that have the steam machine right now and are showing gameplay from high demanding games.
3. The target audience is people who buy prebuilt computers. This might be hard for you to understand but the overwhelming majority of people playing PC games did not build their PC.

I feel like I'm being gaslit.
For months I heard how the Steam Machine was going to change gaming, replace consoles, push SteamOS mainstream, and finally give us a true living-room PC.
Then the reviews dropped.
It's over $1,300, struggles in games people actually want to play, gets compared to hardware that's years old, and somehow the defense is always:
"You're not the target audience."
Who is?
Because PC gamers can build better.
Console gamers can buy a PS5 Pro for less.
Steam Deck owners already have the Valve experience.
The performance is underwhelming, the price makes no sense, and somehow the conversation is still dominated by excuses instead of answers.
I wanted a killer product.
What I got was a collector's item pretending to be a gaming revolution.

@that_dude_ian @JustinWhang The problem is that the market has changed. It's not guaranteed that ram or storage prices will even come down. So the idea of valve taking the loss and hoping that prices go back down is a terrible idea.
