I've ordered Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff in honor of Fire Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Fire Chief Robert R. Shick Jr. of the Walnuttown Fire Company, who were killed in the line of duty on Saturday, April 4. As I shared with Captain Zach Stufflet this morning — we stand ready to support his Fire Company as they mourn the loss of two of their brothers in uniform. Lori and I invite all 13 million Pennsylvanians to join us in praying for Chief Buck and Assistant Chief Shick’s loved ones. May their memories forever be a blessing.

FDNY members, family, and friends gathered Wednesday for a walkout ceremony for Probationary Firefighter Stephen Cain, who was released from Staten Island University Hospital. Firefighter Cain was injured while operating at a 2-alarm fire at 124 Conklin Avenue in Brooklyn, where units encountered heavy fire throughout the first and second floors of a private dwelling. While operating, two firefighters, including Firefighter Cain, sustained injuries and were transported to area hospitals. We thank the dedicated staff at Staten Island University Hospital for their outstanding care and support.

Tonight, Pennsylvania tragically lost one of our finest when State Police Corporal Tim O’Connor was killed in the line of duty. I was at Paoli Hospital this evening with Corporal O’Connor’s wife Casey and his parents Maureen and Tim. My heart breaks for Tim and Casey’s young daughter and their entire family. Lori and I mourn with the Pennsylvania State Police family and with all of our law enforcement partners. I’ve directed flags across our Commonwealth to be lowered Monday in honor of Corporal O’Connor. May his memory be a blessing.
