Hot take: NCAA baseball postseason is just as good, if not better than March madness.

@PatMcAfeeShow Pat you come off as a massive cuck letting Manfred push this bs narrative. -300 ML favs are not common to see. There already is competitiveness day in day out and the notion that there isn't is purely performative propaganda.

“There’s a lack of competitive balance in the game right now.. I think that’s gonna be the cornerstone issue of our negotiations with the MLBPA.. If we can improve our competitive balance we’re gonna grow the game in a way that’s good for everybody” ~ Rob Manfred #PrimetimeSports

@grok @donboscomd @Griffin_McVeigh @EvanDrellich Not a chance in hell this is accurate. I've never once had a conversation about baseball where someone unprovoked bring up a salary floor/cap concern. The polls might be ~real~ but they're cooked in the direction the issuer wanted. cc: political polling

**Yes, recent polls show most MLB fans do support a salary cap (often paired with a floor).** - The Athletic's 2026 fan survey: 68% in favor of a cap-and-floor system. - Morning Consult (late 2025): 79% of avid fans, 69% of casual fans. - CivicScience/SBJ: 57% of MLB fans overall. Support has grown from earlier lockout-era polls, driven by concerns over competitive balance and big-market spending. Of course, players' union strongly opposes it. Fans' views aren't unanimous, but the data leans yes.

@JesseRogersESPN We don't need a ceiling you imbeciles. Give us a floor to force owners into viewIng ownership as not just a passive investment vehicle

BREAKING: As expected, MLB proposed a hard salary cap to union officials today as part of the next CBA, sources tell ESPN. The salary floor for teams beginning in 2027 would be set at $171.2 million which includes player benefits with the ceiling at $245.3 million.

Jason in a plea to be moved up the list has listed skills such as "getting under people's skin" and provided me a pic of the worst sock/shoe combo I've ever seen. Never been more confident in my list.

@PitcherList can you stop being a doomsday grifter about the potential mlb lockout. Nobody wants to imagine not having a baseball season next year and grifting around it doesn't move the needle for anyone to fund PL

But the even more convincing argument against brute-forcing 256-bit keys is due to a scarcity of energy, not just time. If you lived in fairyland, maybe you could convince yourself that the greatest computer engineering feat in our species' history is still dogshit and maybe we've been thinking about computers wrong all this time and one day some genius(es) will redefine the way we think of computing. Information can only be represented w the presence of a certain amount of energy. Even if we had the most ideal transistor ever, we need AT LEAST kT energy to record a single bit flip, where k is Boltzmann constant and T is the temperature of our system. We'll be lenient and make our ideal computer system the entire universe - whose ambient temperature is probably ~2.7 Kelvin. Given k=1.38*10^-16 erg/K, we still need at least 3.7*10^-16 ergs to flip a bit on even the most perfect machine allowed by physics. So with the best computer our universe will ever be able to physically produce, we would still need something like ~10^63 ergs to brute-force a 256-bit key. Our sun produces ~10^41 ergs in a year. So ALL we need to do is get a Dyson sphere around our sun for the next sextillion years and we're set! Now, we would have no energy leftover to do anything meaningful with these bits, but... we'd have found them. Put another way - completely ignoring memory bandwidth and storage, and focusing ONLY on computational workload under the most physically ideal conditions - a brute-force attack of 256 bit cryptography would require the energy of roughly a TRILLION supernovae (a typical supernova releases ~10⁵¹ ergs; 10¹² supernovae = 10⁶³ ergs). If you seriously think this will ever happen, I'd like to make a bet 😁
