It's definitely the hardest part because we don't always know how marketing works. There are people out there who spend their entire lives studying and doing marketing... we are developers. I'm still not sure myself: some experts say you should just focus on development and let Steam do the business, and there are actually many games that did well with zero marketing.

I honestly think marketing is the hardest part of game development. There are just way too many platforms and strategies to test. The real challenge is reaching the audience that will actually want to play your game—it’s incredibly tough. Wishing the best of luck and success to everyone grinding through this process!

@CodeRed_dev People keep saying that if you self-publish, you are indie. But even Valve self-publishes their games, so Valve would be indie. And Microsoft too.

I don't why AA devs pretend like they are Indie. A studio of 30 ex Ubisoft developers and 30 million in funding and a guy in his basement, they are totally the same.

In Poland, if you make an indie game that flops, you go to jail. Not kidding. If you have a company, you need to pay obligatory "insurance" that's 5% of income but NOT less than ~500 euros a month. You don't make enough to pay? They auction off your stuff or you go to jail.

@Dadbod_Games What??? 122 endings??? I should have 20 lives to unlock each ending :) Anyway, did you try to contact Steam support to ask for a specific solution?

I just found out Steam only allows you to register 100 achievements for your game. That's an issue since I.T. Never Ends has 122 unlockable endings as of right now. Plus easter eggs and stuff that I, ideally, would also like to give you guys achievements for. Not quite sure how what to do about that? Do any of you guys have any cool ideas? Happily taking suggestions. #steam #gamedev #indiegame #toomanyachivements #Igot99achievementsAndThen1

@Revvalution_St Trying something completely new is risky because if your mechanics are too original it might be hard to find the right audience and players don't know what to expect... but if this happens you are probably creating a new subgenre, which is good :) Anyway, don't give up.

My new game is my biggest failure. I've never had such terrible results. The worst part is that I wanted to try something new, and this game completely exhausted me. Experiments are evil! I need a big break to recover😔 #game #indie #horror

@GorillaRogueGam @Rargarr1 @DevLand95213410 Yes I know and I use AI myself to help me with coding. I was just saying that using AI as a tool to help is fine in my opinion, but I know people selling books completely written by AI and the point there is that those books have no value for humankind.

You do realize that human artists utilize A.I. as a tool in their very human artist workflows don’t you? Digital photography, digital art, CGI is all “generated by a machine” but human artists use these techniques in their workflow. A.I. is no different. A.I. doesn’t create finished works. Artists who utilize A.I. in their workflows leverage different programs to create various peices of their creation. A.I. empowers artists to be completely independent and not rely on other humans and not be restricted by budgets/funding and gatekeeping from studios or investors. People who assert that A.I. “does all the work” clearly have no clue how artists utilize these tools in their workflows and the tremendous work, skill, talent and effort that it takes to wield these tools to create various aspects of their creation.

If they don’t want to play games that utilized A.I. in the workflow then it is gonna be their loss. Because most games by big studios are already embracing it fully and many indie devs are following suite. Anti-A.I. people aren’t gonna fair well in the near future. A.I. is gonna be EVERYWHERE and in EVERY major movie and game. What matters is if the product is good or not. How it was made is irrelevant.

This solo dev made a fully open world GTA set in 1970's Istanbul and it looks incredible 🔥 ✅Inspired by GTA 3 and Vice City, you'll explore a historically accurate Istanbul set in the 1970's ✅Cars have realistic, weighty physics to accurately represent the vehicles of the 70's ✅Can perform low paying crime-based jobs for cash, or just go on a rampage with a full blown wanted system ✅Police will pursue you, attempt to arrest you or just gun you down It's called Alaturka and it's coming soon!

@walaber I don't think a 60fps limit makes a big difference in a UI-based game and anyone contesting this will be blocked, banned and even tortured 😅
