No I don't believe we should leave it at that. I don't think for one moment she is a bad person. Let me say that. I don't condone the comments about her weight etc. But its peoples right to make them as she has made this public. It is also her right to make her stand whatever way she sees fit. But I dislike the disingenuous nature of it. She knows she isn't on hunger strike. Pick something else to do. Don't make it into a thing of "I'm sacrificing food (while holding a huge melon) because children have no food." That's an insult to those children no? Plus the arrogance level is a little off here. How can she affect the change she seeks doing this. The government doesn't care if she actually was serious or not. It's weird to think she can affect damage this way. How about helping the homeless? Or volunteering with an aid agency. Or just doing something that she is genuinely committed to? I don't mean any hate toward her. But it's beyond ridiculous.

Claims She's On Hungerstrike While Holding The World's Largest Slice Of Watermelon 🍉 Ireland has a problem with way overprivelged people who think they're saving the world when they're, in fact, virtue signalling to an excessive, almost pathological degree. To such a degree that it causes fatigue in the public regarding the issues being protested. Also, hungerstriking when you have the plentiful access to food (while the children you protest on behalf of DON'T) isn't the award winning sacrifice you THINK it is. Hungerstrike can be a valid form of protest. I don't take that right away from anyone. But please remember those children would do anything for that watermelon or for the other options you have in terms of accessing food. You're NOT engaging in solidarity. It makes a mockery of their hunger when you pretend you are actually going to engage in a hunger strike as you stand there with a massive watermelon. The problem with going hungerstrike is that you have to follow through with it. Until you DIE. Not eating for a day, or three or a week is NOT hungerstrike. My comments here are NOT about approval or disapproval of the issues being protested, but rather about the detachment from reality and from the suffering she claims to care about. If she really wants to help children in Palestine, then maybe she can, but this stunt is not it. She will be home in her cosy bed with a full belly by tomorrow at the latest. I feel people like this belittle what they're fighting for because this is all just empty theatrics. She would be better off going to the Cappuchin Day Centre and feeding the homeless. It would be more meaningful than this farcical pretence. She also makes the mistake of thinking the government cares whether she eats or not. Btw, for anyone who cares to know, I don't approve of the death of any civilian anywhere, especially not children (and that's my right). There's also children dying in the Democratic Republic of Congo 🇨🇩, Nigeria 🇳🇬 and Syria 🇸🇾 right now at the hands of ISIS. Gang rapes, beheading, being set on fire. No one is mentioning that, so I will mention it here (because they are Christians its not mentioned. I also don't approve of starving children in Palestine, nor do I approve of Hamas having taken children hostage or murdering them either. I don't approve, I don't approve, I don't approve...of the death of ANY child. But I also don't approve of BS "hunger strikes" either. Just so there's no confusion.

Two teenagers have been jailed for nine years each for the "brutal" murder of gunman Tristan Sherry, who was beaten to death after he shot and fatally wounded gangland figure Jason Hennessy Senior in a busy restaurant on Christmas Eve two years ago. Before their trial commenced last year, the High Court found a law requiring that the pair face a mandatory term of life imprisonment should they be convicted and reach the age of 18 before their sentencing hearing was unconstitutional. They are also the first two defendants to be sentenced after a landmark Supreme Court ruling earlier this year that a life sentence is not mandatory in the case of child murderers and should only be used in exceptional cases. courtsnewsireland.ie/first-defendan…
