To briefly review, we have on the one hand the nearly bloodless annexation of Crimea by Moscow in 2014. On the other, the Ukrainians and their western sponsors are intent on waging permanent war against a nuclear-armed power in order to conquer Crimea. Who is the aggressor?
///@ajfuzz1

@ChristopherJM @OlegNikolenko_ @MFA_Ukraine At this point Christopher I think it would be helpful to acknowledge that the West and NATO ultimately desires the Crimean peninsula for itself, and has enlisted the Ukrainians to fight for it. After all, the so-called land bridge forms a defensive barrier around Crimea.

The economic angle is interesting. The various states of the Middle East have been opened up to American capital and investment in large measure because of the Israeli-American invasions.
Brian Berletic@BrianJBerletic

anyone with half a brain and 10 minutes of time can look at who primarily runs the largest most powerful corporations in the United States - the same people who have always run them since America was a nation (generations before Israel even existed) - white nominally "Christian" men.

These people are barbaric. Everything they tell you about their enemies is 100% true of them. Disgusting humans.

How can it be that Israelis can hold citizenship in two countries at once, say the US or UK and Israel, while the Palestinians remain *permanently* stateless and under military rule? This argument will fall on deaf ears I’m afraid.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

I lay out my case to @PeterBeinart that forcing Israeli Jews to dissolve their own state would be undemocratic, even if we see that as a "just" outcome. But my argument is that it wouldn't be just because it wouldn't be democratic. Full episode: wisdomofcrowds.live/p/peter-beinar…

If the Islamic Republic collapsed tomorrow and Hezbollah and Hamas were denuded, would Netanyahu and the Israeli right concede to the creation of two states? I cannot imagine it.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

This is silly. I was one of the first people in a major US newspaper to lay out the case that what Israel was doing was a genocide. Maybe you missed that. Do you really think Fouad Ajami would've been so outspoken? Have you not followed what I've been writing the past two years?

@shadihamid Why not allow Jordan to reannex the West Bank and work with them to ensure security for the Israelis? This would also solve the issue of permanent stateless for the Palestinians.

Trump has thrown global oil markets into turmoil in order to maintain Israeli hegemony in the Middle East and we are still going with the Russia angle? Doesn’t add up.
The News Agents@TheNewsAgents

"Putin is having the best day of his life with the stuff Trump is saying and doing - it's every Russian dream come true." As Trump threatens to pull out of NATO, @maitlis & @jonsopel say he's doing everything possible to weaken the West - and hand Putin what he always wanted.
