This is not the solution. A fairer, more inclusive procurement process, an exemplar work environment within government attracting the best people, Some modicum of accountability etc etc. itnews.com.au/news/watt-flag…

@simonw I always think the live code version should be like the directors cut published alongside an edited, curated version. A lot of people used to stream code alongs on twitch and then post an edited to YouTube.

YouTube question: I've been making a few videos recently and I'm torn between the honest no-cheating live coding approach and the here's-something-I-prepared-earlier approach I'm aiming for 10-30 minutes per video Which format do people find more useful?

I made the below echidna explainer image using Nano Banana Pro in one shot for fun with no real aesthetic direction. The text is a bit mangled in places but the limiting factor now is really my imagination. 🦔

New side quest: A model/OS/industry agnostic tool for thought powered by your existing LLM. Multi farm, mobs/animals, local data, reports. Works with other tools, research/bpm, shares nothing without permission. More to come✌🏻#ausag #Agriculture

Was getting the urge to get back in the cab so I went to John Deere and they hooked me up with the best I could afford.

@itsalexvacca I supported Textdrive which was acquired by Joyent as a lifetime member only to have that rug pulled when we became unnecessary. John Gruber (Daring fireball/markdown) worked at Joyent for a stint too. Internet lore is a great thing.

Before AWS existed, one company ran the servers for Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook's entire app ecosystem. They owned Node.js, invented containers 8 years before Docker, and Peter Thiel even backed them. Then something happened...

@MartinMurray_Ag That’s super interesting, I’ve been using it to do custom reporting from weights exported to csv. I haven’t tried to match between files. To date I’ve had quite interesting results, especially when being specific about context, for example providing location, recent rainfall etc.

@andrewdotcom I created a project folder, uploaded a heap of csv files of cattle weights and asked it to give me weight data, it couldn’t track animals across multiple spreadsheets by VID but could identify with EID I then got lost in building in paddock scanning

Who’s using chat GPT to analyse livestock records? What are you using it for? How’s it working? Any stumbling blocks? I’m thinking I’ll have a play tonight

@andrewdotcom Thank you - I hope to add CircuitPython support soon and examples/tutorials for common products such as some of the Pimoroni Enviro projects etc. I think you'd have some interesting use cases with sensors and geospatial stuff.

@simon_prickett I haven’t seen much coming in on the shipping ship lately. What’s currently keeping you busy? I just got an AI hat and Pico2 to play with.

I've never felt more Australian than I did this evening, fishing a huge rotting Kookaburra out of the pool skimmer box with my thongs while waiting for sausages to cook on the BBQ... 💪🇦🇺🩴

@ok_lyndsey I've been thinking a lot recently about boring AI. Loads of what we see online and in the press is big, whizz bang stuff but there's a lot of boring things that AI does very well that I think is a real opportunity - maybe not in money terms but in quality of life etc.

For someone who predominantly works alone, large language models have been amazing productivity boosters. I'm continually finding new ways that they help me run my life and business more efficiently. It's crazy to think we're only just beginning with all this.
