@bilbosfootcomb It certainly used to be a lot more aspirational than it is now.
I know a few people who moved there because they’re killing it in the arts and in a lot of ways you still have to go there to Make It, but even they talk about it like it’s a necessary evil more than anything else.

I think it’s wonderful that we have special work visas for Chileans, Singaporeans, and Australians that make it like 10x easier for people from those countries to come to the US than anywhere else on earth and almost nobody uses it because those people don’t want to come here lol

Shocking error from Michael Clarke on @skynews just now. Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon wasn't to take out Hezbollah as he claimed. It was to remove Lebanon's government. Hezbollah didn't exist at that time. It emerged in response to that invasion.
