We're launching @IPinfo Lite - taking some of our most essential data fields (country level geolocation and basic ASN data) and making them available completely free, without restriction, via both an unlimited API, and a download (JSON, CSV, MMDB and Parquet all available). While IPinfo Lite only includes a subset of all of the data we offer, there's no compromise to the data quality, or the refresh rate.

This is a really common misconception. That’s definitely how most legacy geolocation providers do it, but it’s not how we do things at @ipinfo - our geolocation is based on evidence and network observations, not on guesswork or outdated Whois data.

A lot of VPNs claim they’re in 100+ countries. So we checked. Out of 20 major providers, only 3 actually operate in all the places they claim! Three. Props to @windscribecom, @mullvadnet and @ivpnnet More research and results aound this coming soon!

Just back from an incredible week in Croatia with over 50 of the @ipinfo team. Amazing how much energy and creativity come from spending time together in person. Between the strategy sessions, boat trips, and late-night conversations, we left with new ideas, stronger connections, and a renewed sense of the opportunity ahead. @MrSaeid007 @reincdr Yeah tags on the prefix pages is a good idea! Definitely possible to have multiple countries per /24 though - here's one example: ipinfo.io/ips/104.44.36.…

@reincdr @coderholic You can also add those tags like country location, anycast etc... on the page(ipinfo.io/ips/8.8.8.0/24) too. Because prefix with subnet 24 means from ip 0-255. it's not possible prefix with subnet 24 have 2 different flag location. But prefix /8 or /16 may have hosted in countries

@DrPeering @ipinfo Thank you! Around a million traceroutes are now available via our website. But we collect over 2Bn every week, from over 1,000 vantage points! That is a lot of data!

Wow! The folks at @ipinfo (and @coderholic) have gone and traceroute’ed every ASN and BGP prefix out there! That’s a lot of data! I wonder how many non allocated IPs show up within those intermediary hops? I’m guessing 10.x.x.x is popular.

@MrSaeid007 @reincdr We already do that. See ipinfo.io/tags/anycast for anycast ASNs, and we include an anycast flag for IPs in in our API

@coderholic May I suggest to deploying tools on your website/api/Cli to detect anycast range/prefixes for ASN? This can be very useful or helpful for network engineers. Cc: @reincdr
