There's been hysteria from some corners of the internet, and not just the Left. There are folks on the Right who seem to have forgotten everything we've learned about Trump over the last 10 years, lessons that anyone who read Art of the Deal wouldn't be surprised by. Summary courtesy of Claude: Extreme opening positions. He typically starts with demands far beyond what he expects to get, creating room to make concessions that still land near his actual target. This anchoring tactic shifts the perceived midpoint in his favor. Leverage and pressure. He actively seeks or creates leverage — whether through public pressure, walkaway threats, deadlines, or competitive dynamics — and isn't hesitant to use it. The willingness to walk away (or appear willing) is central to his approach. Unpredictability. He deliberately cultivates uncertainty about his next move, viewing predictability as a weakness. This keeps counterparts off-balance and can accelerate concessions from those who prefer stability. Transactional framing. He tends to treat negotiations as zero-sum exchanges rather than collaborative problem-solving. Relationships matter mainly insofar as they produce results, and loyalty is often measured by recent deliverables. Personal relationships and flattery. Despite the combative reputation, he frequently uses charm, compliments, and personal rapport as tools — praising counterparts publicly, then pivoting to pressure privately. Branding the deal. He places heavy emphasis on how outcomes are perceived, often prioritizing the narrative of "winning" as much as the substantive terms. A deal that can be framed as a victory may matter more than one with quietly better economics. Bilateral over multilateral. He generally prefers one-on-one negotiations where personal dynamics and power asymmetries are more pronounced, rather than multi-party frameworks with established rules.

I just had a very disturbing Good Friday encounter with an ICE agent at the airport As I was going through security, an ICE agent asked me for my ID. I told him this isn’t Soviet Russia and that the only citizenship papers I planned to show him were the Declaration of Independence “Sir, I’m just asking for ID, not proof of citizenship,” he said. “Today is the anniversary of Jesus’s resurrection,” I replied. “He was an American. Would you have asked to see his papers too? Would the scars on his hands not have been enough for you?” He was stunned silent. I strode past him without showing my ID and went through the metal detector I received a standing ovation

“My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior.” The level of disgust I have for this statement is palpable.  Growing up, testimonies like the one below were glorified. 1/2
Trevor Sheatz@TrevorSheatz

My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was then radically born-again. Committed to church, evangelized constantly, Puritan books in her bedroom, prayer journals, grief over past sexual sin, etc. We got to know each other well for over a year, dated for four months, engaged for two and a half, and didn't sin sexually with one another. Our first kiss with each other was at the altar on our wedding day (reaction pic attached!). We've been married for over five years now, and she's been the most wonderful and godly wife, mother to our three children, and homemaker you could imagine. She's more pure than most virgins, as biblical purity has less to with past sins (though they certainly matter) and more to do with one's current posture of the heart and daily decisions to honor the Lord (Matt. 5:8). We're far too quick to forget the story of the woman labeled as a known "sinner" (likely a prostitute) in Luke 7:36-50 who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears while kissing them too. The Pharisees were shocked that Jesus let a public sinner do this. Jesus responded with a parable about debts being forgiven and ended with this powerful conclusion: "Her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little" (Luke 7:47). Everyone seems to highlight the benefits of virginity, and it certainly is a blessing. But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" (1 Cor. 1:27-31) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

something i've noticed is that people who are new to something — whether it's tailored clothing or catholicism — are often very rigid and dogmatic in their thinking. much more zealous than people who have been into it for a while. not sure what causes this.

@courtneyellis It's a direction I'll likely go when my PCP retires. Deathly afraid of no QB in conflicting advice. Cardio and nephro disagreed in my mother's case, she had the angiogram nephro discouraged, and died of kidney failure 3 months later.

My longtime family doc in Nov: Exciting news! I am moving to concierge medicine! For an annual fee of $5,000 I can remain your primary care physician. (Sick visits extra.) My longtime family doc in March: So… I still have a few open spots, in case you want one.

I think it’s high time we got #DalePartridgeFacts going. I’ll get us started: 1. Dale Partridge goes to Six Flags by himself 2. Dale Partridge leaves Bible verses instead of tips on restaurant bills 3. Dale Partridge wears a shirt in the pool

Laura Ingraham was doing the absolute most to keep that segment on the rails, but you can't script a 13-year-old who just stared down a box cutter. She’s trying to hold space for a serious "national news" moment, and this kid just walks in with zero filter and ruins the professional polish in the best way possible. The way he dropped that line while his mom was basically playing goalie in the background, was an absolute pro move keeping the cameras rolling.
