No, the ICE agent isn't "kneeling on his neck". Yes, yes, ICE is the modern gestapo, a bunch of thugs operating without accountability. What I'm arguing is that you cannot "see" what's happening here. You think you clearly see the ICE agent kneeling on his neck like with George Floyd, but you don't. What you see here is the approved, trained technique of kneeling OVER the neck. The difference is that the weight is still mostly on the other leg, and on the heels. The knee is extended over the neck to prevent the target from being able to lift their head, but the weight is not on the neck, it's on the heels and other leg. You can watch the agent leading up to this point, where the ICE agent is carefully placing his foot in the right position, so that the weight stays on his back heels and other leg, then extends his knee over the target's neck. This technique is extensively trained for and approved, and is included in most training manuals. That's why you know Chauvin's claim of using his training is false. His weight was on Floyds neck, not on his other leg or heels. He was definitely NOT trained to do this. The two procedures are different for exact the reasons shown, that one can injure the person, and the other simply immobilizes them without injury. The point of this tweet isn't to defend or attack Chuavin or ICE, but to point out that you and I can see the same videos but see completely different things, and that some education is important.

In 2020, Trump manufactured the Big Lie, but he could never find the actual "thief" who stole the election. So this Thursday, he's going to invent one. Get ready for the "Bigger Lie" (which will make him look even more desperate than before). defiance.news/p/i-helped-ove…

Not really. The first thing is that there isn't really a big problem with leaks, relative to evaporation and the need to drain the pool regularly for cleaning. All they needed to do was re-grout the cracks and expansion joints to stop almost all the leaks, leaving only minor leaks. Applying the liner was stupid, but there's no evidence of a wide spread peeling problem. Applying the liner is difficult, but the documentation shows that they understood this and were competent enough to apply things correctly. Any pundit that assumes they were incompetent is therefore wrong -- absent specific information showing incompetence.

I tweet too much about the reflecting pool but that's because both sides are clearly wrong, as well as the mainstream media. There is no political center here, where rational people can have a conversation on facts. There are only people who have chosen a side first and whatever distorted information that supports their side second ... and the media that repeats the claims of one or both sides. Despite their left-wing bias, the mainstream media is particularly bad. They repeat most of Trump's false claims as fact, supporting his narrative that there were problems (leaks, algae) that prior President's couldn't fix, despite knowing that this is Trump's narrative on every issue and is always a lie. There are no "tire tracks". A picture from a different angle shows this. They paused the draining a few times (possibly to clean dirt from the lines), during which wave action pushed sediment to the edges of the water line. You can see this on both edges, at the equivalent water height. Moreover, the motorcade drove down only one side of the pool, and mostly over concrete before the sealant/liner was applied, so can't possibly be the cause of the problems people claim. There was only a minor leaking problem, but relative to evaporation and the need to drain and clean the pool a couple times a year, it wasn't really significant. The National Park Service already had a plan to address it, to re-grout the cracks and joints. There is algae, but that was always the intent. Making the water crystal clear (like in the nearby fountains) would take heroic efforts, so there have only been minimal algae control efforts (ozone bubbles and filters). Now, "nano-bubbler" technology means we can have 5 times more effective control, keeping the water even cleaner, but there will still be algae in the summer. But as far as I can tell, is not actually installed yet (despite media claims), and has nothing to do with these liner issues. The point is that both sides are crazy and we can't have a rational conversation about this.

🚨BREAKING: The drained Reflecting Pool did not reveal any slices. Instead, tire marks were visible, obvious damage from Trump’s vanity drive in a fleet of 10-ton vehicles for no reason at all. He ruined his own project, then lied and blamed the citizens who paid for it.

My point is that you can measure pundits and influencers on this issue, such as Seth Abramson, a guy with 800k followers. Does he spew hyperpartisan misinformation, or is he reliable? This tweet answers that question. x.com/SethAbramson/s…
Seth Abramson@SethAbramson

Evidence has mounted that the supposed “gash” in the Reflecting Pool is... ...tire tracks Trump caused by insisting his many-ton presidential convoy drive on the pool’s fragile surface. Why? He was too lazy to walk. Per his own edict, he must now do 10 years in federal prison.

Here I fixed that for you. The DSA socialists are still largely at the fringes, outside the gates. The Trumpist fascists are inside the gates, in power. ICE's unaccountable death squads are killing people. Each and ever incident needs a public investigation, but all we get are coverups. Only fascists call out the military to fight against citizens "on our own shores" for supporting politics you don't like.

THE BARBARIANS ARE INSIDE THE GATE! We are fighting right now in Congress over whether we're going to maintain our status as a constitutional republic OR trade that in, dismantle the foundations and GO DOWN THIS DARK ROAD OF DEATH TO COMMUNISM. THAT is the question.

@random_eddie There are some many books, movies, and games I wish I could experience again for the first time that it might almost be worth it :-). (Except they don't really affect memories).

One horrifying thing about this country is that many of its citizens, including a large portion of the youth, wouldn't mind being ruled by China. They implicitly welcome actually being spied on, socially regulated, and ruled. They support this.

Back during the pandemic, Blizzard released "World of Warcraft Classic". It was amazing. I'd forgotten a lot, so it was like experiencing it for the first time all over again. But at the same time, the "meta" way of playing it was known, so I knew how to dominate gameplay instead of just fumbling around like the first time.

Three years ago I sued @PatrickByrne for lying about me. He claimed that I took a bribe and committed treason. He implied I was in some part responsible for the Hamas attack of October 7th. His lies caused real damage and endangered my family. On Friday I was awarded $1.7M in punitive damages by a Reagan-appointed federal judge. The court determined that everything he said about me was a complete fiction. For those of you who don’t know Patrick Byrne, he is the former Overstock CEO who lost control of his company when it became public he was sleeping with convicted Russian agent Maria Butina. He is the man who was in the Oval Office with Michael Flynn and Sidney Powell leading up to the January 6th insurrection. He is a clownish footnote in history. But his lies travel far and wide. He is a fraud who did the bidding of Donald Trump and Steve Bannon. This isn’t the first defamation case brought against Byrne, and it won’t be the last. Even after losing, he is still doing it. He continues to tell his audience he has “three dynamite voicemails” and a former federal agent whose testimony confirms his story. Byrne had three years to bring that evidence to court. He never produced it. The voicemails he did produce, the court found, “do not mention a bribe, implicate contemporaneous involvement in any illegal scheme by Plaintiff, or otherwise independently corroborate Defendant’s story.” The former federal agent Byrne relied on, John Moynihan, gave sworn testimony that contradicted him. The FBI agent Byrne claimed had backed him up denied it under oath. Those are not my findings. Those are the findings of a federal court. And nothing prevents Byrne from releasing the voicemails he keeps promising his audience. He never has, because the court has already listened to what he produced and found they prove nothing. Patrick will try not pay this judgment. He didn’t pay the $34,969 the court ordered six months ago either. His strategy is delay. Fire the lawyer. Skip the hearing. File nonsense with courts that have already ruled. Repeat the lie on Alex Jones while the clock runs. He is not a whistleblower or a spy. He is a man who got played by a Russian intelligence asset, lost his company over it, and has been performing a spy fantasy on the internet ever since. He is a coward who wouldn’t even show up in court to face me. He is hiding in Dubai, where he fled during my case to avoid being deposed, and told the court a story about a Venezuelan hit squad to explain it. He will run from this judgment the same way he ran from my trial. Fine. Every defamatory statement is a new lawsuit. I have as much time as he has words.

Technology is making the world worse. Nothing good has been invented in the last 25 years. Superfluous, spurious innovations that seem impressive at first, like the iPhone, take back more than they give and ultimately benefit only oppressive governments and their oligarch allies.
