⭕️ U.S. Pushes UN Sanctions Resolution on Iran; Russia Warns of “Unpredictable Consequences” The U.S. and Bahrain have introduced a UN Security Council resolution threatening sanctions on Iran over the Strait of Hormuz blockade, while Russia signaled it may oppose the measure, warning against “one-sided and confrontational” resolutions that could trigger escalation with “highly unpredictable consequences,” according to Anadolu Agency. Moscow blamed the crisis on what it called unprovoked U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran, and urged UNSC members not to “artificially stir up tensions” while negotiations remain underway. Russia’s ambassador voiced support for Pakistani mediation efforts and called for diplomacy to be shielded from “hawkish rhetoric.” U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz, who has backed Israel’s conduct in Gaza including harsh restrictions on essential food, medicine, and shelter, described Iran’s control of the strait as “collective punishment of the entire world.” “It’s unacceptable, it’s immoral, and it’s illegal in international law,” he complained. The U.S.-Bahrain draft, developed alongside Gulf allies, demands the removal of mines, protection of freedom of navigation, and a humanitarian corridor through the strait. Earlier one-sided UN efforts on the crisis were blocked by Russia and China.
