So freaking huge: Humans May Be Able to Grow New Teeth Within Just 4 Years Japanese scientists are advancing human clinical trials of a novel drug that may allow people to regrow lost teeth by targeting a gene (USAG-1) that normally stops further tooth development. The Phase 1 trial started in September 2024 with 30 adult men missing at least one tooth, and if these trials go well, the treatment could be available to patients — including children with congenital tooth deficiencies — by around 2030. The drug works by blocking USAG-1’s interaction with proteins involved in tooth formation and has shown promising results in animal studies so far.
