Tonight, the St. Charles School Board voted to flip the script on sex education. Instead of students automatically being placed in these classes and parents having to opt out, families will now have to opt in. In simple terms, nothing happens unless a parent says yes. This is rare, as most districts do it the opposite way, and it puts the decision more directly in the hands of parents.

Private school teacher charged with r*ping two former students after Massachusetts changed its law on teacher-student relations. Matthew Rutledge, now 64, also known as 'Mr. Wonderful,' taught at Miss Hall’s School for over 30 years. Melissa Fares and Hilary Simon, both now in their 30s, are accusing Rutledge of abusing them. "He began grooming me at 15 years old … and his abuse of me continued for years after I left that campus. After more than two decades, this case is finally in the hands of the criminal justice system," Simon said. Prosecutors initially turned down the charges because the girls were 16 or older, and it was not illegal for teachers to have s*x with students above the age of consent. The age of consent in Massachusetts is 16. "Massachusetts law defines the age of consent as 16. While the alleged behavior is profoundly troubling, it is not illegal," said Berkshire District Attorney Timothy Shugrue in 2024. It wasn't until a state bill was passed that made it a crime for a teacher to have s*x with a student that Rutledge was charged. Rutledge has entered not-guilty pleas to three counts of r*pe.

@marcorandazza This book is available (and legal) in schools throughout MA- at the taxpayers expense. Even listed as an ebook available to elem students in some schools. (Sudbury and Pembroke.) The irony- it'd most likely be banned (upheld by courts) in MA prisons, but ok in our schools.

Amazon sells THIS book... which is recommended for CHILDREN. But they've banned "Camp of the Saints" because it offends some goblin that works there.

@JanJekielek She's right- p0rn isn't only available to kids in "screens and social media." It's in curriculum, resources used, and the books available to students while in school. (All of which is legally protected in many states-MA included.) Remove exemptions; remove the p0rn.
