ChatGPT as a coach/rubberduck for hard CEO stuff I feel like I need to wrestle with by myself has proven to be so invaluable.
Even if the main value is just in creating an excuse to write down and articulate what I'm trying to figure out, it's 💯. Number one thing I use it for.
@ItsUnderstood As one of the tech crowd who is awed by I agree ... I'm terrified too.
I worked with neural nets and AI in the 90's ... since then the progress has been mostly incremental. And recently ... bam!
AI will dwarf the Industrial Revolution and the Information Age.
@dwhelan Many things about AI terrify me. Mostly, I don't trust the people who are building and promoting it to understand the long term impact. The usual tech crowd is in love with the novel and nifty and "wow, could we do this?" Not thinking about value beyond revenue or coolness.
In the 90's I was excited by the possibilities the internet opened up for making the world a better place.
Now, I am even more excited by what AI can do. But the stakes are much, much higher.

👀 Sneak a peek at the deepest & sharpest infrared image of the early universe ever taken — all in a day’s work for the Webb telescope. (Literally, capturing it took less than a day!) This is Webb’s first image released as we begin to #UnfoldTheUniverse: nasa.gov/webbfirstimage…
@thekjohnston Do what you will to your own body -- it's a gift you can treasure, or destroy, as you please. But when your choices impact others around you -- be it directly (harmful) or indirectly (inconvenient) -- then your choices are not just yours alone to make. Society 101, right?
WE DID IT #GUELPH!
We hit 90% first shot vaccinations making us one of the most vaccinated cities in North America! Helping us achieve this goal is Erica at 12yrs old & then Hannah at 94yrs old! Say thanks to the wonderful @WDGPublicHealth staff who have worked so hard at this!
Consider adding one item to your team working agreement:
"If I stop working on an item for more than a few hours because something more urgent comes up, I'll BLOCK that item so you will all know"
Juggling multiple items is hard, let's communicate. We need to see this stressor.
@janky_jane Was wearing a vintage nike jacket in a very long que for drinks at a boxing match when a Belfast lad goes “fuck me this is taking forever, your man has been here since the 80’s”
@allenholub When this comes up I like to say that agile can help deliver value /sooner/. You may not be any /faster/ getting a given set of features done.
Agile makes you faster in one way only. If you're doing it properly, you won't be wasting time building stuff nobody wants. I also challenge anybody to define faster. Faster than what? Faster than what you'd do if you weren't Agile? How would you know that? No data. //
This sort of garbage drives me nuts. Sutherland started pushing this "Agile makes you faster" narrative to pander to his corporate clients. The lie is pervasive because that's what corporate types want to hear. The odds of Lockhead actually being agile are zero. 1/
