Earlier this month, I defended my PhD in front of friends and family. I’ve dreamed of this moment forever and I’m glad it came true. Thanks to my mentors, Drs. Paulson and Sharkey, and my committee! I will be starting a postdoctoral position in Dr. Roy Parker’s lab at CU Boulder.

@kenbwork This is quite ingenious. Is there concern on how the HaloTag which is quite bulky, might confound results with smaller peptides/proteins?

Proteins are still pretty hard to measure. Traditional approaches (e.g., phage, yeast, ribosome display) rely on DNA barcodes + NGS, but face throughput constraints + quirks. Infinity Bio has created a "self-assembling" DNA-barcoded libraries. The goal: screen drugs against all known allergens, human viruses & human proteins

@hariharmm Thanks Hari! Ruth Lehmann and Martine Simonelig's have similar observations in germ granules in Drosophila. Aside from some work in neurons and during sperm development we didn't really know a whole lot about vertebrate systems.

My first paper from my postdoc is finally ready for the world! Tweetorial soon, but TLDR, we thought about how multinucleate cells are able to maintain N:C ratio, and found a condensate rheostat that regulates translation of cell cycle + growth mRNAs.

New preprint! We predict 9,452 human-pathogen protein interactions, tripling structural knowledge for key pathogens. 🔍 Only 0.2% of known interactions have solved structures—structure prediction can bridge this gap for drug & vaccine design. Read more: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
