I shipped threads in the app recently and it's very surprising how useful they are even with a 2 person team. To put the utility in perspective, compare that to how much Slack channels would be useful for a 2 person team? Still a lot to build, links and backlinks, sharing with URL, non-bubble message UI, etc. Shipping⛴️

I've always wanted my sidebar to only show the chats I care about now. And when my closed chats get messages, they pop back in my primary sidebar. I can also navigate to any chat via CMD+K and have it in my sidebar.

I've posted screenshots of the @inline_chat early user interface before. But those don't look like what it's going to be at all. We just had to build the absolute basic UI to make the chat function during the early alpha stages and get to ramen profitability as a two person founding team. But now we've been building the user experience we've had in mind building upon what we learnt in the @NoorChat days and it's going to be more dense, focused, scalable and novel. I recently wrote a bit on the design direction in our README on GitHub. To make it happen we even had to move from standard native toolbars, tab bars and sidebars and create our own ones in AppKit. Anyway, I'm so excited to share more soon but I just wanted to point that out.

"interesting conversations with new mutuals" ❤️. we're much overdue for new communication platforms with different/composable mechanics. alas, building the plumbing for any communication platform is still literal rocket science today 😔. one of many reasons i'm a big fan of @inline_chat + and its open source!

There's a gap in the chat app market for users who can't take Slack's enterprise interface and Discord's game-centered design lacking certain work related features. And no, I don't think an AI-first Slack clone can fill this.

@theo there's literally no way you can make a competing slack app it's literally an impossible task there's no way to both make something better & also compete with them
