@sportingintel @mjshrimper 1. VAR is silent unless one team or other raises a challenge. 2. Each team can challenge up to twice in a match. 3. Challenge can only be brought in a break of play (including score of a goal). 4. Can only challenge conduct in last 15 seconds before break in play. Fixed it.

St Patrick’s Day is a good day to remind Americans that the Irish - despite being a country of only 5.2 million - now invest more here than any other country… Thanks for the great write up, @mchalfant16

@Diogenes_cat @Gearoidmuar @tomdoorley @tcddublin I have experienced many (myself included) who have had that education and still struggled with communication standards in a work environment! To Garry's point - what is taught is not useful.

Make Irish optional for Leaving Cert. Why do universities (other than @tcddublin) insist on Irish, English and Maths? English, I get. Maths, maybe. But Irish? Opinion: Ireland’s ‘power class’ has a colonial attitude to the Irish language irishtimes.com/opinion/2026/0…

@AoifeMFoley @BerryCathal "Kinsale would have made an excellent storage site." It was !!! SW Kinsale was a storage field initially from the other fields out there (2001) but later (2006) capable of onshore injection. 230mcm.

@BerryCathal That’s not really a proper gas reserve. What’s shown there is essentially a floating LNG import terminal rather than a traditional storage facility. The vessel in the illustration is a mock-up of an FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit). An FSRU is a specialised ship that receives liquefied natural gas from tankers, stores it temporarily, and then warms it to convert it back into natural gas before sending it ashore through pipelines into the grid. Unlike underground storage facilities, which can hold very large volumes of gas for months, an FSRU typically stores much smaller quantities for shorter periods. Its main role is to enable a country to import gas quickly from global LNG markets and feed it straight into the national system, rather than acting as a long-term strategic reserve. Kinsale would have made an excellent storage site. I flagged this at the time and even contacted somebody about it, as I was so concerned. I watched in dismay from Fountainstown as the umbilicals were removed! Kinsale Head was a depleted offshore gas field. And depleted fields are one of the most common types of underground gas storage facilities used around the world. After gas production cease, the porous rock formation that originally held the gas could have been reused to store gas again. Because the geology has already proven capable of containing gas safely for millions of years, it is generally considered a reliable storage option. Instead, there was ‘talk’ of turning it into a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project, what a pipe dream. I don’t believe that we’d have the volume of carbon from a single point source!? Madness! That field could have provided a viable storage facility already connected to the grid. I first wrote about this back in 2009 in my work. FSRUs can be expensive, although they are usually cheaper and much faster to deploy than building a full onshore LNG terminal. They can often be leased and installed within a couple of years, whereas permanent LNG terminals can take many years and cost far more. For that reason FRSU are often used as a quick way to secure gas imports during supply crises or when additional capacity is needed rapidly. Several European states installed them quickly after the disruption of Russian gas supplies in 2022 as they fast and cheap. But you need to arrange the lease! Before the Russian Ukrainian war, FSRUs were more commonly used by developing economies or countries with smaller gas markets that could not justify the cost of large permanent LNG infrastructure. Early users included Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey, as well as smaller European markets such as Lithuania. And we sunk the Foynes site! Again spoke up on this. One of the very few…. So so irritating and frustrating.

NORA manages 🇮🇪’s 90 day strategic oil reserve. Worth hundreds of millions of €, it’s fully paid for & available if needed. This is what national resilience is supposed to look like 👉 nora.ie 🇮🇪’s Strategic Gas Emergency Reserve can’t come soon enough…

Spent 30 minutes this week trying to explain to a C-suite what an "agentic workflow" is. I ended up saying "software that does your job while you're in this meeting." Got more traction than anything I'd prepared.
