Seattle Computer Products (where tim wrote dos) is right across the street from icm.museum in the same business park. We have a gazelle on display which boots dos 1.25. Tim worked at Microsoft and extensive modifications and development were done to make dos suitable for the IBM PC launch. The image shown is fairly far removed from what dos was like prior to Microsoft purchasing it and improving it.

Did you know Microsoft didn’t develop MS-DOS, but bought it off of a programmer named Tim Paterson? Tim Paterson (born 1 June 1956) is an American computer programmer, best known for creating 86-DOS, an operating system for the Intel 8086.

@NRA I guess old @NRA slogans like "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" need to be updated. For example, "Guns don't kill people, political rhetoric kills people"; or "Guns don't kill people, easily triggered border patrol agents who like to play Call of Duty kill people".

“For months, radical progressive politicians like Tim Walz have incited violence against law enforcement officers who are simply trying to do their jobs. Unsurprisingly, these calls to dangerously interject oneself into legitimate law-enforcement activities have ended in violence, tragically resulting in injuries and fatalities. As there is with any officer-involved shooting, there will be a robust and comprehensive investigation that takes place to determine if the use of force was justified. As we await these facts and gain a clearer understanding, we urge the political voices to lower the temperature to ensure their constituents and law enforcement officers stay safe.” - @NRA

@trenthub Good question. The Supreme Court usually defers to the President's determination of "emergency", but they need to stop doing that, because the power to declare anything an emergency makes any "emergency" requirement completely useless and hands him unlimited power.

Under what legal authority can the President issue tarrifs on countries because they don’t support him on the issue of Greenland? Where is the national emergency?

This should flip and go the other way if you stare at it for a bit! I love open source... a couple of days ago I posted the code to this Dyson Ring that I wrote, but I couldn't quite get the illusion right. Today, Sean Lavery checked in a double-sided rendering and some other changes that really sell it. Code is at github.com/davepl/dyson, based on a demo by @jn3008

A landmark study from the Cleveland Clinic—a mainstream, pro-vaccine institution—has revealed alarming data about this year's flu shot. The research, tracking over 53,000 clinic employees during the 2024-25 respiratory virus season, found a shocking negative vaccine effectiveness of -26.9%. This isn't just low effectiveness; it's NEGATIVE efficacy. Key Findings: • The cumulative incidence of influenza increased more rapidly among the VACCINATED than the unvaccinated. • After adjusting for variables, those who received the flu shot had a 26.9% HIGHER risk of contracting influenza. The Conclusion: Influenza vaccination was associated with a significantly higher risk of influenza. This isn't a fringe report. It's a peer-reviewed study from a top medical center, forcing a critical question: Why are health officials still aggressively promoting an intervention that the data shows can increase your risk of illness? The era of blind trust is over. It's time for informed consent.

@ansonmount This administration (esp Pete and Kristi) has taken propaganda to a whole new level. Thanks for engaging despite all the “stay in your lane” flak you know you’ll get, because free speech is all about more conversation (not less) and respectful disagreement (not personal attacks)

I would call this man a twit if I actually thought he was this stupid. But I see this for what it is: an intentional provocation, like so much of the Trump agenda, seeking to pit Americans against one another. There was no “battle” at Wounded Knee. It was a massacre.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth@SecWar

Under my direction, the soldiers who fought at the Battle of Wounded Knee will keep their medals. This decision is final. Their place in history is settled.

It’s interesting how some people can see defects like the Woke Mind Virus, Trump Derangement Syndrome, and all kinds of blindspots in other people, but can't detect any blindspots of their own. It must be nice to have a perfect understanding of the universe (or to think you do).

While it's great that Visual Studio @Code Chat supports Claude Sonnet 4.5 now, what I'm REALLY looking forward to is Clem Kadiddlehopper 2.0.

@davepl1968 Yeah, hard to believe Fracture is already 18 years old. Can't quite tell what the other movie is though. Probably something else from 2007--perhaps Alvin and the Chipmunks. ;-)

@virtuallyfun Ridiculous. I’m not familiar with ISP level age verification but how does that even make sense? People in the same household with wildly different ages generally use the same IP address. This is just going to drive up VPN usage (and rightly so).

Got to love .co.uk behaviour. First they take down archive.org unless you are verified at the ISP level and now the frog further boils. This is not the behviour of a free and open society.

@WeAreSinclair Sinclair misunderstands free speech principles. The way to respond to speech you disagree with is MORE speech, not less. Explain your position with words, not with censorship. When you hold a monopoly in a media market, your responsibilities must be balanced with your rights.

@SteveTVNews @komonews Too bad we couldn’t actually watch it on KOMO. It’s surprising how easily free speech and our ability to choose the programs we want to watch fall victim to politics and intimidation. The FCC should revoke your license for dictating what ABC content the Seattle public may view.
