Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has explained why console prices are going up, saying the cost of key hardware parts has risen much faster than most people think.
“When I arrived in February, we were paying more than double what we had paid in the fall for storage. Then it doubled again,” Sharma said.
She added, “By holiday 2027, some of these components will cost more than five times what they did two years ago.”
Instead of simply passing all of those costs to gamers, Xbox is looking at flexible pricing options and new hardware designs to help keep future consoles more affordable.
