SWIFT maintains the global system of record for its member institutions. Chainlink provides the off-chain compute, orchestration layer, and interoperability that routes capital and executes the workflows across chains. As the network moves beyond the bootstrapping phase where services are effectively subsidized(we are here) The scale of that system will make the value of the LINK token increasingly apparent to those that thought otherwise.
