Probably time for the annual post about Draft Grades. No, they aren't "Useless". And yes, GMs get this stuff wrong every year. If you're outlook is "The teams know best", that's a perfectly fine outlook... But don't come into the NFL Draft world and complain when people who spent months researching and preparing for the Draft criticize or question a Pick. Just as you wouldn't go into a game preview and say "why are you predicting who wins, we don't know the final score." And btw, Draft Grades tend to be more accurate than you think.

Per Reception Perception, Makai Lemon was above average success rate on every single route except Go routes, which isn’t surprising because he’s not fast. He won’t be asked to win down the field much. He is lethal on in and out-breakers and can turn them into big gains with his YAC ability.

If you go back and look at Russini’s reporting on Brown to the Pats, two things are inarguable: (1) the constant reports throughout the season, while true, had a destabilizing affect on the Eagles season; (2) the reports were leaked in order to generate leverage in trade talks. I’m not here to pass moral judgment; I think we would all be better off extending people grace. But my biggest issue is the blatant conflict of interest that people are ignoring. Russini obtained this information from a coach who she was (apparently) engaged in an affair with, and then used those reports to Vrabel’s benefit.

Cool concept from Jason looking at the top 20 contracts by position and whether those players were drafted by that team or signed as a free agent. This absolutely factors into front office draft priorities. Of course, there are always exceptions.

To be clear: this trade was smart at the time, remains smart & aged well. The downside risk was always more realistic than people thought at the time, and the Sixers barely avoided it. For what they got & shed, a pick in the middle of the first round is perfectly fine to give up.

I mean, I’ve watched Embiid play banged up in the playoffs countless times but his performance drops because of it. I just think the days of him being worth a max are long gone due to his injury history and that’s now problematic for the future and am surprised Philly fans don’t agree.

I really don’t understand why Sixers fans ride so hard for Embiid still. I really don’t get it. They’re a typically ruthless fan base and it just blows my mind they haven’t turned on him at all, but instead double and triple down on him despite the lack of team success with him.
