In the context of the CFP expansion that means the importance of a few big name matchups might wane a bit... but previously meaningless matchups soak up that intrigue.

@SamENole @BrettKollmann It did not ruin the regular season what so ever. As we saw meaningful games in November that normally wouldn’t have the same thing at stake. The field is much deeper now than 1 or 2 teams or max 3 that have a legit chance to win a chip that’s undeniable

If you guys think the current playoff system is bad, you should have seen the 90s.
We once had a split championship because the Rose Bowl didn’t want to violate their TV contract with ABC, so they refused to release the Big10 Champion (#1 ranked Michigan) from their game to go play for a Natty.
An undefeated WVU team once didn’t even get a shot to play for it because the AP poll had them at 3.
We’ve come VERY far.

Change seeding, bring more CFP games to campus, regulate NIL/ x'fer portal. Plenty of work still to be done. But...
👉 This was one of the best regular seasons of CFB since 2007.
👉 And the playoff absolutely did its job and we will crown one of two best/most deserving teams.

The four-team playoff was a show. The 12-team tournament is a genuine championship. Having a genuine championship ELEVATES the regular season. This was the best college football season of the last 60 years.
