@DarthNucleus69 @emcconnell92 This happens 8-12x every game. Usually the ref doesn’t fall for it though. It shouldn’t be a yellow/red simply because the ref was bad at his job. I don’t believe there’s been a single yellow for simulation the entire World Cup besides this one and the US one triggered by VAR

@SamENole @emcconnell92 Parades only got the yellow because the Swiss player dived and then rolled around a bunch on the ground as if paredes went studs into him.

So we don’t want diving, and it’s a horrific problem with the game…. But we don’t want it to be punished now because Argentina have already had referee decisions go their way? Can’t have it both ways. Has to be a booking for diving

"You don't see the ball trajectory change... It's a perfect rainbow arch, there's no change." Rules analyst @ChristinaUnkel didn't see any issue with England's first goal vs. Norway 👀

This angle makes this look way worse than the other one. Like this legitimately led to the goal. It dropped right to him when it otherwise would not have.

This is yet another terrible rule. Why should this only be a yellow/red because Paredes was given a yellow mistakenly? There have probably been 50-100 similar dives this World Cup and I think only 2 of them have been carded. This one and the Paraguay guy in the US game. I’m all for carding dives but if you’re going to use VAR to do it for all dives. Not just the ones that earn a card for the opposing team.
Daniel Solana@DiceElDani

VAR is getting ridiculous. If the referee doesn’t book Paredes, VAR can’t intervene and Embolo stays on the pitch. Because Paredes was shown a yellow, VAR suddenly has jurisdiction and Embolo gets sent off. The exact same incident can produce two completely different outcomes depending on whether the ref flashes a card first. That’s not justice—that’s a loophole.

@BestBallSaul @audavidb Because that just pisses the players off especially if it’s done too quickly. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose in that spot. That said, there should be like a secret button or something for extreme situations like this.

This 💩 is so bad. This can’t be allowed. The table is incentivized to let it happen while the other players are penalized. This isn’t fair. Nothing against him just can’t be allowed and the table is complicit

@audavidb Yea that’s F’d up. I don’t know what the solution is but seems like if he busts that hand he should be given the previous place cash and not the pay jump.

The question isn’t whether he deserved a yellow or not (he did) but it’s the fact that there have been 100 dives just like this and only 2 or 3 of them have actually been given a yellow. The only reason this one was a yellow because the ref mistakenly gave the Argentina guy a yellow first. Why should that be a requirement? Be consistent and give all dives a yellow.

@arrowsmith77 A good start would be to make them all reviewable. Not just ones where guys are mistakenly given yellows.

@SamENole I definitely agree that I hope it sets a standard. It’s a good call that should happen more, not a weird call that should be outside the norm

@arrowsmith77 I agree but there should be 3-5 of those/game. And it’s dumb that he only got the red because the ref got fooled and gave a yellow. Otherwise it’s not reviewable.

@BarstoolBigCat No issue with this being carded. The issue is this is only the 2nd or 3rd card for simulation all tournament and there’s probably 5+ dives every game that should be carded. It shouldn’t require an Argentina yellow to allow it to be reviewed. Thats dumb.
