My reading goal this year is 15 books. I’ve already read 18 and 1/2 of 2 books. I’m not putting pressure on what I’m reading (so it’s all the romance) and I’m not forcing myself to read something I can’t get into. It’s been refreshing!

My heating pad wasn’t working in the middle of the night last night. This is a problem since I’m in the middle of a flare up (“probable” endo). I run through heating pads every couple years. It works now, but now I’m wondering if I should have a backup…

We took a quote from @charliemackesy book from Mole about cake in my 3rd grade class and made paper mache cakes for @Lakeviewleth to enjoy. The kids did fabulous. Pictures don’t do it justice.

This is how you know you teach kids about the brain a lot. We are prepping for our @DEHRtoCare gala and talking about resilience. One of my grade 3s said “resilience is when your prefrontal cortex controls your reactions to emotions, not your amygdala” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We teach our students to name it to tame it. We teach that it’s okay to feel. But we don’t often extend the same grace to ourselves (even though it’s necessary work)

The fact that we’re experiencing a fundamental crisis in public education in #Alberta (not waving anymore, but drowning) is symptomatic of a society 168° off kilter to what’s critical to its future survival & prosperity. Fixating on a sunset carbon economy while🔥🏛️🔥#abed #ableg

The value of reading, and of writing things down that we read, or hear, cannot be overstated. Two expert guests (who specialize in speech and memory) on the Huberman Lab podcast explained that when we read text or listen to something and then write key aspects/takeaways down by hand- not typing, it engages our motor control centers in ways that deeply embed that information to our memory. Taking notes, however cursory, turns out to be the best way to remember and implement information later.

Day 2 of this darn migraine. Meds haven’t seemed to touch it. I went to bed at 6pm last night hoping to sleep it off. 14 hours later my cheek is numb 😩 this pressure change can end now please!
