@openpnp so I'm currently locked out of my discord but I'm very board and want to play with openpnp. Is there an up to date doc explain the board file format so I can start working on my board builder?

@lixielabs You can set a max part speed on individual parts, but it gets applied as a modifier anytime that part is on the nozzle, so the rise from pick, the move to place, and the lower to place will all be at that speed. No way to separate currently but I think that'd be a good addition.

@silverbladecomp Maybe try again? There are four text channels: general, builds, development, and github.

Visual Training is a new OpenPnP feature currently in development. It will help train tricky placements by letting you see exactly where and how the part will land. youtube.com/watch?v=zyXNeh…

Playing around with package editor ideas. Planning to upgrade OpenPnP's visualization and vision soon.

Oh, and if there is anyone who knows OpenPNP, I have some timing/optimization questions that don’t seem to be well documented anywhere (as seems to be the case for most things in the project)

Made some super low profile drag feeders for my pick & place. Takes 8min to mill one out of FR4 on the @bantamtools. Will post sources & new video after I make a change. These will pretty easily turn into auto feeders with a little more work.

@GregDavill @pakakezu It looks like a 12 byte frame to me, but another person working on this noted that it seems to send in bursts of 72 bytes

@pakakezu @openpnp Thanks! I can see some patterns in the data, I think a good next step that I can try is sending some of these patterns into the unit I have here and see how/what it responds to. This will also help differentiate the transmit/response parts of these dumps.

In an effort to add some automatic feeders to my openPnP machine, I'm taking a look at the neoden options. This is the FEED-BOX. An electronically actuated 8mm tape feeder. A few options: 1. Reverse engineer the protocol running over CAN bus. 2. Write a custom firmware.

@pakakezu @GregDavill Very helpful, thank you! Has the UART framing already been removed from these bytes, or is this a raw bitstream?

@openpnp @GregDavill Created new logs that include address change. And feed with different feed length. On neoden4 default addr is 50. filebin.net/tq675hd9gidlqj… (Idle1.log attached feeders 2-12,16-37,42-48, Unprogrammed 50 Idle2.log attached feeders 1-12,16-37,42-48)

@pakakezu @GregDavill Thank you for posting these! How many feeders were hooked up during these dumps? And were any of them new? (i.e. ID 53)?

@GregDavill Here are some log files. Ignore header and footer. Otherwise raw data. I have no idea about the large number of repetitions. I briefly checked on binvis.io I pressed feed and cal only twice. I will have to log the feeder address change. filebin.net/m2y4p07u685ib2…

@GregDavill Hey Greg, have a look at this thread if you haven't already: groups.google.com/forum/?utm_med… Lots of folks interested in this, and all sort of in the same boat. I know of two people with machines, so waiting for dumps.

Good progress! Wired up the other end stops. It now has enough for homing. The next step is wiring up both C1 & C2 axes. Then plumbing for the VAC solenoids. Then probably a working table on the machine. Then maybe I could start to look at openPnP config stuff...

The goal for today: make progress on my PnP frame. This head design uses a single motor to control 2 Z axis. It uses a non-standard homing technique which means I need to patch smoothieware and recompile from source.
