Scottish politics has completely lost the plot. A @TheGreenParty candidate openly calling for the abolition of prisons, yes, prisons, while posing next to a sign saying “No Prisons. No Borders. No Cages.” Think about that for a second. No prisons? So where exactly do rapists, violent criminals, and repeat offenders go? Back onto the streets? Back into your communities? And this isn’t some fringe anonymous voice, this is someone standing for public office in Scotland. Why would any sane person, let alone a woman, argue for releasing dangerous men from prison? Who exactly is that supposed to protect? This is what passes for “progressive” politics now. Ideology so detached from reality it actively puts the public at risk. Are these people, especially the Greens, genuinely serious, or just raving lunatics playing at politics? Ordinary people will be the ones who would pay the price for this madness.

A little. You cannot help but fret when you release one of your 'children' into the wild... I give myself a month off away from the typewriter. I allow the next story to ferment a little in my head. Jotting down the occasional note is permitted. My long suffering wife knows when I'm due back at the coal face...I get restless. In the meantime...family, sunshine, coffee, beer...

@realmacsavage My old Sergeant Major was Chris's business partner when they ran Craft International. He was home in the UK visiting family when Chris was murdered. He dropped everything and flew straight back, only to be served by Kyles widow's lawyers...she sued him for not keeping Chris safe.

Chris Kyle would have turned 52 on Wednesday. A true warrior who gave so much in service to his country 🔱 We remember his courage, his sacrifice, and the legacy he left behind. May his story continue to inspire, and may he never be forgotten.

I have to agree. If you write the story well enough, sex should be implied...trust the audience to know what happened off screen. Some time ago, my publisher wanted me to insert a 'rape' scene in my manuscript. I was stunned. I struggled with it...my wife offered 'could your protagonist come across a woman that has been attacked, instead of narrating the attack?' I went with her advice...the publisher accepted. Phew!

Our armed forces are poorly paid. They are denied the equipment, the stores, the back-up and the training that they know are vital to the job they do. Worse, they see the anti-Western wing of the Labour Party calling for still more gigantic cuts in defence, which a former Labour Defence Secretary said would mean at best 'neutrality', at worst 'surrender'. We have a government that neglects our defences. A government that lets down NATO so badly that our allies have rebuked it publicly. A government which spends money on nationalisation while cutting spending on the defence of the realm. As I promised President Carter last month, the next Conservative government will give defence the high priority that it demands. The Conservative government will see that our troops are properly paid, increase defence spending so that we meet our obligations to our allies, and by strengthening the defence of the West, restore the morale of our fighting services. Let us not forget: our first duty to freedom is to defend our own.
