@6BRanch @NikkiHaley @BernieSanders The US spends 10k per year per person for healthcare. The Nordic countries about 5k per person. And the have better outcomes. Germany spends about 6k and has shorter wait times and better outcomes

If you’re a man and you voted for Kamala Harris can you reply to this thread with a picture of yourself. This is for scientific research purposes.

People damn with faint praise @PeteButtigieg's communications skills as if he's doing party tricks when he's on FOX News. But when you set him in a room with real people and let him feed on the energy and then move people towards voting for VP Harris you see it's not a trick.
Stefan Smith@TheStefanSmith

I don't know who had the idea to sit @PeteButtigieg down with undecided Michigan voters and just let him cook, but this is just brilliant content strategy.

@MikkeMus8 @sobrcannibal @EricLevitz @TrevorGriffey that’s true, but I think the Founders assumed that would be baked into the requirement that the winning candidate needed a majority of the EC votes. so the EC *can* be a bulwark against simple majority rules democracy (popular vote), but it won’t be if the majority’s overwhelming

"Presidential candidates should cater exclusively to whichever 7ish states happen to be evenly split at a given point in time, and the candidate that does better in those states should get to be president in defiance of the popular will" is such a weird principle to insist on

Just to lay down a marker by which you can judge me, in case everyone does indeed switch sides: The electoral college is an excellent institution, and my arguments for it are wholly independent of who it temporarily benefits. Same with the filibuster, Senate, and Supreme Court.

@MikkeMus8 @sobrcannibal @EricLevitz @TrevorGriffey ^ this. the Electoral College’s whole point is to ensure that the victorious candidate wins across a representatively broad swath of states without only having to appeal to a select few. the Electoral College doesn’t care which states those are at any given point in time.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but hating Trump doesn’t make Kamala qualified to be president.

Why both parties believe they’ve going to win: Dems: -Selzer/heartland polling/WA primary->Blue Wall -Dobbs/women -final NYT/Siena polls (mostly) -a belief that they have the late momentum GOP: -early voting data -betting markets -national polls tightening -a belief that there will be another polling error

my base case is that Trump wins narrowly, and dems throw the mother of all tantrums, refusing to certify, spawning riots that make jan6 look like a cakewalk, jailing Trump, etc. hope i'm wrong ofc. the party of Democracy™ is going to expose themselves thoroughly.
