NEW: FedEx driver who is accused of abducting and strangling a seven-year-old girl, puts his face in his hand as a photo is displayed of him driving her to her death. 7-year-old Athena Strand was seen standing behind Tanner Horner in his FedEx truck. Athena was allegedly snatched by Horner when he was delivering a Barbie doll to her home in Paradise, Texas. Horner initially claimed that he accidentally hit the girl with the truck before "panicking" and pulling her into the vehicle. He said he then strangled her in the vehicle and dumped the body 7 miles from the home. The photo, however, shows that Athena was alert in the truck and did not appear to have been struck by the truck. Wise County District Attorney James Stainton says the jury will see footage on the day of the killing, depicting the moment Athena was strangled to death. "Somebody covered up the camera because they don't want you to see. Guess what? Audio is still running, and you're going to hear it. You're going to hear what a 250-pound man can do to a 67-pound child," he said. "And when I say it's horrible, I mean it. I've been doing this for 25 years, and I promise you, buckle up." Horner qualifies for the death penalty.

We're not going to travel beyond the solar system, according to Leonard Susskind. And neither are aliens, coming to visit us.

1. The nearest star is 4.24 light years away. The fastest spacecraft ever built would require 6,600 years to get there.
2. Surely we can just build faster spacecraft. The problem is to get to anywhere close to the speed of light, we need exponentially more energy.
3. Chemical rockets will just not work. Even fusion rockets won't work. Even 10% of the speed of light is not achievable. The Tsiolkovsky Rocket Equation prevents it.
4. Interstellar dust becomes hand grenades when traveling anywhere close to the speed of light. Ships break.
5. Space radiation will kill us over the time need to travel interstellar distances. Impossible to protect without massive shields, which require massive energy to accelerate and de-accelerate.

If Jesus Christ truly rose from the dead and remained for 40 days, the most decisive way to confirm this would have been to appear to the very authorities who condemned him….namely Pontius Pilate and Caiaphas. These were the individuals with both the motive to verify the claim and the power to publicly document and disseminate it.
Instead, the resurrection appearances were very suspiciously reported exclusively among his own followers…people already predisposed to believe in him. This is a serious evidential asymmetry…
the claim rests on insider testimony, while those in the best position to critically verify or falsify it are absent from the record.
If the goal of the resurrection was to provide clear, public confirmation of his divine status, then failing to appear to neutral or hostile authorities is very dubious and suspicious.
Think about it, A verified appearance before Roman and Jewish leadership would have produced independent records and dramatically altered the history of the day.
The absence of such accounts makes the resurrection narrative look less like a publicly confirmable event and more like a belief dubiously sustained within a committed group… any rational mind is justified in disbelieving the story.

Those "grill scrapings" are what happens when ground beef hits 450°F steel and the proteins undergo the Maillard reaction at maximum surface area.
A spherical patty sitting on a grill touches maybe 15% of its surface. A smash burger pressed flat against a plancha touches 90%+. That means 6x more beef surface is simultaneously converting amino acids and reducing sugars into hundreds of new flavor compounds. The browning you're looking at is roughly 500 to 1,000 distinct molecules that didn't exist before the meat hit the steel.
The crispy lace around the edges is rendered fat that seeped out under pressure, hit the hot steel, and fried the protein strands from the outside in. Those thin edges are essentially beef chips. They shatter when you bite them, which creates a textural contrast against the still-juicy center that a thick pub burger physically cannot produce.
The flat geometry also solves a heat transfer problem. A thick patty has a massive temperature gradient from surface to center. You either overcook the outside waiting for the middle, or pull it with a raw center. A smash burger is thin enough that the entire patty reaches optimal temperature within 60 to 90 seconds per side. There's no gradient to manage.
George Motz documented over 300 burger restaurants for his book and found that nearly every legendary regional burger in America, from the Midwest butter burger to the Oklahoma onion burger, uses this exact technique. Thin, pressed, maximum contact with a hot flat surface.
The ones that look the worst on camera consistently taste the best. The visual mess is the flavor.
