It’s not entirely the policeman’s fault. It is more the government’s fault for legitimising and permitting, and very certainly doing nothing to counter, the climate in which this circumstance can arise. The police are only arguably demonstrating the void here (for antizionist antisemitism) left by the govt. Should policemen be adept at understanding racist imagery where there is no immediate threat of violence, or should they mainly be tough guys who stop violence and punish it? Plenty of bad actors abuse their current weird status as hate crime investigators. Still, we are where we are and I don’t think the policeman should have been so quick to dismiss my concern as ‘passion’.

Update on David Collings exhibit at Margate’s Joseph Wales gallery. Kent police sergeant just called. He told me: no action to be taken. The pictures (a few below) are in his view ‘criticism of the Israeli state’. He said ‘because some Israelis happen to be Jews it doesn’t mean it’s antisemitic’. He said: ‘you’re obviously very passionate’. (Thereby dismissing my complaint). I tried to tell him that he was perhaps not best judged to evaluate antisemitic content if his view was that this was not ‘Nazi imagery’ but ‘criticism of the Israeli state’ and could he possibly send someone who knew more about this stuff. ‘No police officer is an expert in racism’, he told me, oddly. I gave him some friendly, if ‘passionate’ advice: sometimes ‘criticism of the Israeli state’ overlaps with anti-Semitic content and incitement. This is one such case. I’ll be complaining - please join in. Case 21-0938 I always want to believe the best of the polite agents of the law on the other end of the phone. But this well-spoken man telling me that hail of swastikas and blood and Jews was nothing but ‘criticism of the Israeli state’ is why we are where we are, why Jews don’t expect anything from the police, and how we find tha Kent police are exactly in tune with Matthew Collings.

@novaramedia @rivkahbrown What nonsense Rivkah, have you spoken to anyone in the Stop The War Coalition about the Green Party’s flipping and flopping on support for the anti-war movement? Vibes ain’t enough

"Polanski will be much harder to undermine as an anti-war loony leftist than either Galloway or Corbyn." In the latest edition of the Cortado, @RivkahBrown argues that the Greens are a crucial voice opposing the war on Iran – and a more formidable one than the establishment has bargained for. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if infrastructure like this 👇 gets blown up, as of this moment it will take at least a decade to recover from this war - and the truth is that the world's energy picture is probably changed forever. This single facility 👇produced roughly 20% of global LNG supply (aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/18…) and, as of 2011, had taken $70 billion to build (energyintel.com/0000017b-a7be-…). What makes this even worse is that Iran's strike on this was retaliation after Israel attacked their South Pars gas field which draws from the same natural gas reservoir, which is the world's largest by far (9,700 km² - about the size of Qatar itself). Heck, on the list of the 25 largest natural gas fields (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_n…) this single reservoir holds roughly 40% of their combined recoverable reserves - and is nearly 6 times bigger than the 2nd biggest field in the world. And, unlike many of the others on the list, it's only at 10% depletion (meaning 90% of the gas is still there). Which means that, probably for many years, a huge share of the gas from the world's largest reservoir simply won't be extractable, as infrastructure on both sides - Qatar's and Iran's - has now been blown up. From a global energy supply perspective, we're deep into worst-case scenario territory.

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals. I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.

Angela Rayner speaks at Labour soft left group Mainstream’s reception, kicks off by saying she “a lot to say” “When the British people voted for us, they voted for change,” she says. “The Labour Party is at its best when it’s bold… We should make clear our driving mission is to represent working people. When vested interests stand in the way, we should take them head on.”

Those responsible for Grenfell should be jailed. The Tower stands surrounded by one of the wealthiest areas in Britain, yet it was neglected, warnings ignored, and safety treated as an afterthought. While a memorial is a step in the right direction, we need justice too.

Fantastic news in the UK today - the government has apparently ditched its plan to force creatives to 'opt out' if they don't want AI companies training on their life's work. The opt-out proposal was unfair and unworkable. Many couldn't realistically have opted out at all, and it would have affected small rights holders disproportionately negatively. We should be grateful to the government for listening to reason on this, rather than just listening to the big tech lobby. They have done the right thing by putting opt-out behind us. They should now reaffirm what the law says - that AI companies must license people's work if they want to train on it - and commit not to change that law. thetimes.com/uk/technology-…

Thank you for that information. I can appreciate that would be frustrating. Are you just able to confirm the time this occurred please and what the scheduled time of the bus was? We'd advise getting in touch with our customer relations team via the link with as much information as possible about this, as well as your taxi expense to see if they can assist further. southernrailway.com/help-and-suppo… ^Kirsty
