Andrew is a brave, funny, properly irreverent and hugely beleaguered comedian who has stuck to his guns on any number of unfashionable causes over the last few years and been right far more often than he’s been wrong. And paid the price. I don’t think this was his finest hour but it is an absolute non-negotiable in comedy that you get to miss a shot once in a while, even from the Spot. I will not be accepting any future bookings from Hot Water if this is their policy, and I’d urge other comedians to consider carefully what precedents they really want to set, what values they defend. Solidarity with Andrew, even when his aim is off.

If you’re gonna make up a story, at least make it make sense. Why would she be challenged? Challenged about what? A mastectomy doesn’t mean you look like a boy, it means you look like a woman who has had a mastectomy. Is he pretending she was mistaken for a boy? Like, the other women couldn’t see scars from a major surgery?

Dear Jolyon. I DON'T BELIEVE YOU. I have lived on this planet, in a female body, for over 60 years. During that time, I have never heard *anyone* (let alone another woman) being "challenged" in women-only spaces and I have certainly never done so myself. We're women: some of us are naturally fairly flat-chested and a significant proportion of us have had treatment for breast cancer (or our mums, aunts, sisters or daughters have) - did you imagine we wouldn't know what a mastectomy looks like? The fantasy that any one of us would say anything to your *very obviously female* wife is just twisted. *You* are twisted. But then you showed us who you are when you murdered a defenceless little creature (following your Twitter practice run the month before) didn't you? Everyone and everything is fair game in pursuit of your ideology, of you being "right". Well you are NOT right.
